New Maruti S-Presso

Maruti Suzuki will launch a micro SUV based on the Concept Future S, which was showcased at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Scheduled to be launched on September 30, 2019, the upcoming micro SUV will directly rival the Renault Kwid and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. The new model is likely to be called the Maruti S-Presso. The new model will be based on the stronger, stiffer and lighter HEARTECT platform that also underpins the new Wagon R. The micro SUV will be powered by a BS6 compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine that also powers the WagonR. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.

Next-gen Maruti Vitara

It is no secret that Maruti Suzuki is planning to enter into the premium SUV space, which is currently dominated by Hyundai Creta. Media reports claim that the next-gen Vitara SUV will debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. It will be powered by a newly developed 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and the in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Tata H7X / Buzzard

After launching the Harrier, Tata Motors is now readying a 7-seater premium SUV for Indian market. Codenamed H7X, the SUV is scheduled to be launched in India in the second half of 2019. Called Tata Buzzard, the SUV made its public debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. It will be based on the new OMEGA ARC platform and will be powered by a 2.0-litre KRYOTEC diesel engine. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

Tata H2X micro SUV

Tata has unveiled a new micro SUV concept, H2X at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Internally called Vision Hornbill, the small SUV will debut in the production form at the 2020 Auto Expo. It is most likely to be launched in mid-2020. It will directly rival the likes of Mahindra KUV100 NXT and the production version of the Maruti Future S Concept. Continue reading

Tata Altroz

Tata has showcased the Altroz premium hatchback at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. This is basically the production version of the 45X concept, which was previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Altroz will also debut the brand’s new ALFA modular platform, which will also underpin the H2X micro SUV and the next-gen Tiago and Nexon. The premium hatchback will rival the likes of Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz.

New Mahindra Thar

Homegrown UV maker has started testing the next-gen Mahindra Thar, which is expected to arrive in sometime late 2019. It will be based on the GEN3 platform that underpins the latest Scorpio and TUV300. The SUV will be bigger in size and will be equipped with more modern features. It will also receive dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder and reverse camera as standard. Continue reading

New Mahindra Bolero

Similar to the Thar, the next-gen Bolero will be based on the GEN3 platform. It will also receive several new features inside the cabin. The all-new Bolero will grow in size, which in result offers more space for the rear occupants. It will also receive mandatory safety features as standard.

This sub-4 meter SUV will have crossover styling and will come as an affordable rival to the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.

Jeep sub-4 meter SUV

American automaker has announced that it will launch the sub-4 meter SUV based on the Fiat’s Panda 4×4 platform in India. The SUV will directly rival the Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon. While details about the vehicle are yet to be announced, it is expected that the new compact SUV will feature the signature SUV-like rugged design combined with off-road capabilities.
