Kia Carnival MPV Expected Price, Specifications & Other Details

Kia Motors, a group company of South Korean automaker – Hyundai, is all set to launch its first model – the Kia Seltos in the Indian market on August 22, 2019. The carmaker had showcased its global product lineup at the 2018 Auto Expo. Kia has officially announced that it will launch an all-new product every six months in India. The second Kia car for the Indian market will be the Kia Carnival MPV, which is already on sale in select international market.

The South Korean carmaker has established a new manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The new Kia Carnival MPV will be brought into India via a CKD route and will be assembled at the company’s new production facility. The Korean brand will showcased the mildly updated version of the Carnival at the 2020 Auto Expo. In fact, the new MPV is reportedly to be launched in March 2020. It will be powered by a BSVI compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine. Kia will position the new MPV as a premium alternative to the hugely popular Toyota Innova Crysta.

Kia Carnival Launch Date

Kia had showcased the Carnival MPV at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. It is confirmed that the premium MPV will be the brand’s second model for Indian market. The company will unveil the mildly updated version of the MPV at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. A possible launch in March 2020 can’t be ignored. The Carnival MPV will arrive in India as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit. It will come as a premium alternative to the Toyota Innova Crysta. We believe that this MPV could be priced around Rs 22 lakh – Rs 28 lakh.

Globally, the Kia Carnival MPV is available with two engine options – 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel and Lambda II 3.3 MPI petrol. While the former delivers a peak power of 196bhp and 441Nm of torque, the latter one pushes out a top power of 264bhp against 317Nm of torque. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed automatic unit. It is expected that the company will launch the diesel version of the MPV in India.

In terms of proportions, the Kia Carnival is 5,115mm long, 1,985mm wide and 1,755mm in height. The MPV comes with a wheelbase of 3,060mm ensuring spacious cabin for 7-8 adult occupants. It has a minimum ground clearance of 171mm. Despite being a 7-seater, this model offers a luggage capacity of 960-litres. Kia Carnival Interior

The Kia Carnival is already on sale in several global markets. The MPV measures over 5 meters in length and comes with multiple seating layouts – 7, 8 and 11. Its overall width stands at 1.98 meters, thus making it wider than the Toyota Innova Crysta. Sporting contemporary design and bold stance, the Kia Carnival will be a more premium product than the Toyota Innova Crysta.

Feature-wise, the Kia Carnival MPV is a loaded machine. It gets an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible to Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and satellite navigation. Features such as an 8-speaker Krell premium audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, heated, sliding and reclining second row outer seats and ventilated and electrically adjustable 8-way front seats with 4-way power for the driver’s seat further enhance its comfort quotient.

Kia Carnival Exterior

The Carnival will be longer and wider than the best-selling Toyota Innova Crysta. It comes with a signature Kia front fascia, featuring large headlamps and tiger-nose grille with the chrome treatment. The side profile is plain and simple, which is common in most of the people movers currently on sale in India. There will be chrome enhancement around the window lines, ORVMs and door handles to offer premium touch. At the back, the MPV looks bulky with massive window and stylish tail-lights.

On the exterior, the MPV features LED headlamps and fog lamps, heated mirrors, 19-inch chrome alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, LED tail lamps, power sliding doors and hands-free smart power tailgate.
