Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki will mark its entry into the mid-size SUV segment with the all-new Grand Vitara that will witness market launch in September 2022. Based on Suzuki’s Global C platform, the SUV will come with the 1.5L K15C Dualjet petrol with Smart Hybrid system and 1.5L TNGA petrol with Intelligent Hybrid tech powertrain options. The new-generation Maruti Brezza went on sale in the month of June. The carmaker has already confirmed that its CNG version will hit showrooms in coming months. Though, the exact launch date is yet to be announced. The Maruti Brezza CNG will feature the new 1.5L K15C petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The sportier version of the new Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV will go on sale in India on 6th September 2022. Called the Hyundai Venue N Line, the model will come with a 120bhp, 1.0L turbo petrol engine paired to a DCT gearbox. The N Line version carries some sporty design elements over the regular model. It has ‘N Line’ badging on the front fenders, newly-designed alloy wheels and dual tip exhaust. The South Korean automaker has confirmed that it will launch the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover in the second half of 2022. The model has been built on the E-GMP platform and has a modularized battery system. Here, the Ioniq 5 will come as a CBU unit and won’t have any direct rival. Buyers will have two powertrain options – a single motor (169bhp/350Nm) and a dual motor setup (306bhp/605Nm). The updated Hyundai Kona is likely to launch in the second half of 2022. A few significant changes will be made to its exterior and interior. Inside, the new Kona will have a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch infotainment system, BlueLink connectivity and new safety techs. It will come with the larger 64kWh battery pack and an electric motor generating power close to 204bhp. According to fresh media reports, Toyota Kirloskar Motor will introduce a new hybrid MPV by the end of 2022. It’s likely to be hybrid version of the Innova Crysta that might be named Toyota Innova Zenix. The model will be designed on a new modern, monocoque chassis & have FWD setup instead of the ladder-frame chassis & RWD system. Toyota Glanza hatchback will receive CNG variants in coming months. Similar to the Baleno CNG, the model will come with the 1.2L petrol engine paired to a CNG kit. While its power and torque figures will be lower than standard petrol motor, the mileage will be higher. The hatch’s 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine delivers a claimed power of 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. Official bookings for the all-new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 have been commenced at a token sum of Rs 10 lakh. Designed on the new GA-F platform, the SUV will be offered with the new 3.5L twin-turbo petrol V6 and 3.3L diesel engines making 409bhp and 305bhp respectively. Both motors will come with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. It gets 4X4 drivetrain system as standard along with the advanced Multi-Terrain Select system and Multi-Terrain Monitor system.

Mahindra & Mahindra will unveil the XUV400 electric SUV on 6th September 2022. Compared to its petrol version – Mahindra XUV300, the new Mahindra XUV400 will be longer and have more cargo space. The model is reported to be packed with the high-energy-dense NMC battery sourced from LG Chem. These cells are said to deliver more power and longer range than the cylindrical LFP cells. The new electric SUV will offer a range of over 400km on a single charge. A few design changes will be made to the XUV400, thus differentiating it from its petrol version. Tata Motors might also roll out the electric iteration of the Altroz premium hatchback by the end of this year. The model was first showcased in its concept avatar at the 2020 Auto Expo. Blue highlights inside the cabin will further distinguish it from the regular petrol model. MG Motor India has released a few teasers of the updated Hector SUV revealing its new front grille and silhouette. The new model will also feature the revised headlamps and taillamps. Kia Sonet X Line is ready to hit roads in coming weeks. The automaker has dropped its first teaser revealing its front grille, LED DRLs and prominent hood with Kia’s signature logo. The model is likely to be offered in Matte Graphite colour scheme. Its blacked-out treatment on the ORVMs, piano black finish on the front grille, faux skid plates and fog lamps will add more to its sporty looks. Other cosmetic enhancement will include larger alloy wheels in Matte Graphite finish, a dark chrome strip connecting the taillamps and an ‘X-Line’ badge on the rear. The 2022 Citroen C5 Aircross facelift is reported to go on sale in September 2022. While the new model will continue to use the 177bhp, 2.0L diesel engine with an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox, it will receive significant updates inside and out. The SUV will carry a single-piece wraparound headlamps with LED DRLs, newly-designed alloy wheels and updated taillamps with rectangular lighting elements and darkened finish.
