Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the upcoming mid-size SUV from the Japanese automaker, has finally made its debut at an event in Delhi. The carmaker has confirmed that bookings for the SUV have begun at an initial sum of Rs 25,000. With claimed 90% localization levels, the model is set to go on sale in August 2022. The new Toyota Hyryder SUV will come in four trims – E, S, G and V – and two powertrain options – NeoDrive and Hybrid. One must note that the entry-level E trim will be offered with NeoDrive system only.
The SUV model lineup will be made available in 6 monotone exterior colour schemes – Café White, Enticing Silver, Gaming Grey, Midnight Black, Cave Black, Speedy Blue and Sporty Red. Buyers will also have four choices of dual-tone paint schemes, namely, Speedy Blue & Midnight Black, Enticing Silver & Midnight Black, Café White & Midnight Black and Sporting Red & Midnight Black.
As mentioned above, the SUV will come with two powertrains – Toyota’s 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle and NeoDrive sourced from Maruti Suzuki. The former returns a claimed power of 92bhp and 122Nm of torque. The same unit with electric motor offers 79bhp and 141Nm. Its combined power output is 115bhp. The system has a 177.6V lithium-ion battery and offers an electric-only range of up to 25km. Transmission duties will be performed by Toyota’s e-drive gearbox.
The NeoDrive system is essentially Suzuki’s 1.5L K15C mild hybrid setup with ISG (Integrated Starter Generator) technology. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The system generates a peak power of 103bhp and 137Nm of torque. The same powertrain does duty in the new Brezza, Ertiga and XL6.
The higher trim of the new Toyota Hyryder SUV has been packed with features such as connected car tech, a full digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a 360 degree camera, wireless charger, Heads-Up Display, voice assist with Google and Siri support, 6 airbags, electronic stability program, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and more.
