New-gen Honda WR-V 2023 Global Debut By Year-End – Kia Sonet Rival

Japanese automaker, Honda has recently showcased the camouflaged prototype of the RS SUV at the 2022 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show). The production version of the SUV is reportedly to be called the new-gen Honda WR-V 2023. Indonesian media reports claim that the next-gen WR-V compact SUV will be introduced before the end of this year.

For people not in the know, Honda had showcased the RS SUV Concept at the 2021 GIIAS. Compared to the concept model, the production model has a much-toned down design. In fact, the production version model has also been leaked on the internet. The leaked images reveal that the new Honda WR-V 2023 model will come with a more conventional front grille with chrome studded RS treatment that’s similar to the new HR-V RS. There is a chrome bar on the top of the grille. In fact, the headlamp design has also been completely changed and it appears larger than the sharp looking units of the 2021 concept.

The lower bumper accommodates fog lamps, silver skid plate-style trim with three notches, and wider air-dam. At the back, the new-gen Honda WR-V 2023 has an all-new design that looks different from the original concept. The concept model had a steep, raked screen and full-width LED signatures. The production model has more conventional angles and tail-lamp clusters. Other design highlights include a roof-integrated spoiler, a 3D-style tail-lights with inverted L-shaped LED signatures and silver trim on the diffuser area.

The next-gen WR-V compact SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that produces 121PS and 145Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. This is the same powertrain that powers the City sedan.

It is expected to be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo, while launch could take place in mid-2023. The India-spec model will be based on Honda’s Amaze platform, which has several similarities with the City’s platform.
