Mahindra XUV400 Launch Date 8th September – Key Details

The much-awaited Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV will go on sale on 8th September, 2022. The model, which is essentially the electric version of the XUV300 subcompact SUV, will take directly on the Tata Nexon EV Max. Unlike its ICE version that measures 3995mm in length, the electric XUV400 will be around 4.2 meters long and have more boot space to offer. Its width, height and wheelbase are likely to remain unchanged.

Based on the X100 platform, the Mahindra XUV400 will use the high-energy-dense NMC battery sourced from LG Chem. The company says that the cells are superior than the cylindrical LFP cells used in Tata’s Nexon EV. The NMC batteries will ensure more power and a longer range. The new Mahindra electric SUV is likely to deliver a range of over 400km on a full charge.

The electric SUV was first shown in its concept avatar at the 2020 Auto Expo. The final version retains most of its design elements from the concept. Though, a few changes have been made that distinguish it from its ICE counterpart. The XUV400 carries a closed-off front grille, newly-designed headlamps with integrated DRLs, revised tailgate and new taillamp clusters.

Inside, the Mahindra XUV400 is likely to feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system with the brand’s Adreno X connected car AI technology. The electric SUV might also be equipped with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).

In other updates, the home-grown automaker recently unveiled its upcoming five electric SUV concepts based on Mahindra’s new INGLO EV skateboard platform. The models based on these concepts will be sold via two sub-brands, namely, XUV.e and BE. The XUV.e range will include XUV.e8 (electric XUV700) and XUV.e9 coupe SUV and the BE model lineup will consist of BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09. The carmaker has confirmed that the production-ready Mahindra XUV.e8 will go on sale in December 2024 and the first BE SUV will witness a market launch in October 2025.
