MG Motor India has started testing the updated Gloster SUV in the country. Recently, its heavily camouflaged test mule was caught on camera in Belgaum, Karnataka. While most of the design details remain covered, one can notice the revised LED taillamps. Its rear bumper and tailgate look similar to the existing model. As of now, details of the new 2022 MG Gloster facelift are scanty. Interior of the new 2022 MG Gloster is expected to receive a bunch of new goodies. The SUV has already been packed with advanced features such as ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), a 360 degree parking cameras, a panoramic sunroof, a 12-speaker sound system, a powered driver’s seat with heating, ventilation, massage and memory functions, blind spot monitoring system, MG’s i-Smart connected car tech, paddle shifters, 6-way manual adjustable driver’s seat, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with latest smartphone connectivity, three zone climate control, cruise control, traction control, 6 airbags and many more.
No changes are likely to be made under the hood. The new 2022 MG Gloster facelift will come with the same 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel and 2.0L twin turbo diesel engines delivering 163bhp with 375Nm and 218bhp with 480Nm respectively. While the former is available only in the Super and Smart trims, the latter is reserved for the Sharp and Savvy trims. The twin-turbo diesel can be had with the on-demand 4WD (four-wheel drive) system with selectable drive modes. Both motors come with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
In the full-size SUV segment, the MG Gloster will continue to take on the Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4. While the Fortuner is ready to enter into its new generation, the Alturas G4 will soon receive a mid-life update.
