Hero MotoCorp, the World’s largest two-wheeler maker will launch 3 new scooters in the domestic market by the end of next financial year. The first model to be launched in the market is a 125cc scooter, which is rumoured to be unveiled in December 2017. It is expected that the new model will be Hero Dare 125. Previous reports suggest that the scooter could be called Hero Aava; however, details are yet to be revealed. The new 125cc scooter is reportedly to be launched before Delhi Auto Expo 2018.
As a reminder, the homegrown two-wheeler giant had showcased a make-centric scooter – the Hero Dare 125 – at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Other reports suggest that the scooter will be re-designed to cater both male and female buyers and will have classic design lines to cater to the retro scooter segment. Upon its launch, the scooter will challenge the Piaggio Vespa 125 and Suzuki Access 125. Powering the scooter is a 124cc, force air-cooled engine producing 9.38bhp and 9.8Nm of torque. Design highlights include full digital console, full LED tail-lights, automatic headlamp on (AHO), dual-tone wheel design, etc.

It was speculated that Hero will launch the Dare 125cc scooter by the end of 2016, that didn’t happen. Media reports suggest that the scooter will be launched in the first quarter of 2018. Talking about styling, the Hero Dare 125cc scooter features a stylish headlamp unit with daytime running lights and clear lens turn indicators at the front. The headlamp and turn indicators are integrated in the apron. The scooter comes with a dual-tone paint, which enhances the overall appeal. The dual-toned front cowl with a black visor adds to its styling. It features sporty textured seat and body coloured grab rail for pillion. The scooter gets full LED tail lamp unit that comes integrated with clear lens turning blinkers.
The scooter comes equipped with full digital console that display various information including service due indicator. As standard, the scooter gets a mobile phone charging socket, side-stand indicator, pass switch, and a boot light.
Dimensions – Dimensionally, the new Dare 125 is 1,820mm in length, 975mm in width and 1,180mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 155mm, which is good to handle Indian city roads. The low kerb weight of 114kg will result into high fuel efficiency.

This upcoming Hero scooter will be propelled by a single-cylinder 124.6cc engine that is capable of producing 9.38bhp of power at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 9.8Nm at 6,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission. The braking mechanism of the bike comprises of 200mm diameter hydraulic disc at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear.
Suspension mechanism of the bike includes telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and single hydraulic shock absorber at the front and rear, respectively.
