Seeing the growing demand for scooters in India, Hero MotoCorp is readying a new range of scooters to target a wider range of buyers. At the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the homegrown two-wheeler giant had showcased a male-centric scooter – the Hero Dare 125. The company hasn’t revealed the exact launch details of the scooter; however, media reports suggest that Hero will launch an all-new 125cc scooter during September 2017. The report does not specifically about any particular model, but the new scooter is most likely to be the Dare.
The scooter showcased at the Auto Show was powered by a 124cc force air-cooled engine producing 9.38bhp and 9.8Nm of torque. Design highlights include full digital console, full LED tail-lights, automatic headlamp on (AHO), dual-tone wheel design, etc. So if you are one of those waiting for this scooter, here’s everything you want to know about this.
It was speculated that Hero will launch the Dare 125cc scooter by the end of 2016, that didn’t happen. Media reports suggest that the scooter will be launched in September 2017, around festive season; however, Hero is yet to make an official announcement.
To be positioned above the Pleasure, the Dare 125 will be a male-centric scooter. We expect this scooter to price in the range of Rs 55,000 – 60,000.

This upcoming Hero scooter will be propelled by a single-cylinder 124.6cc engine that is capable of producing 9.38bhp of power at 7,500rpm and a peak torque of 9.8Nm at 6,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission. The braking mechanism of the bike comprises of 200mm diameter hydraulic disc at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear.
Suspension mechanism of the bike includes telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and single hydraulic shock absorber at the front and rear, respectively.
Equipped with a 124.6cc single-cylinder engine, the new Dare 125cc scooter is expected to return around 55kmpl of mileage.
The Dare 125 features LED lights and tail lamps, and full digital console that display various information including service due indicator. As standard, the scooter gets a mobile phone charging socket, side-stand indicator, pass switch, and a boot light. Though the pre-launch model had premium alloy wheels, the final version might come with standard wheels that are offered on Hero Maestro.
Dimensionally, the new Dare 125 is 1,820mm in length, 975mm in width and 1,180mm in height. It has a ground clearance of 155mm, which is good to handle Indian city roads. The low kerb weight of 114kg will result into high fuel efficiency.
