Hero Aava Could Be The Final Name For Dare 125cc Scooter – Report

Hero MotoCorp, the World’s largest two-wheeler maker has announced that it will launch 3 new scooters in India by the end of next financial year. The first model to be launched in the market is a 125cc scooter, which is likely to be the Dare 125. The scooter will be launched in the first quarter of 2018, before Auto Expo 2018. If media reports are to be believed, the scooter could be called Hero Aava.

As a reminder, Hero Dare was first unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. Besides, the company had showcased the Hero Zir 150cc scooter. This scooter is equipped with LED headlamp and LED tail light, and full digital console that display various information including service due indicator. Other features include mobile phone charging scooter, pass switch, a boot light, alloy wheels and side-stand indicator. Powering the scooter is a 124.6cc single-cylinder engine that is good for 9.38bhp of power and 9.8Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a CVT unit. To be positioned above Maestro, the new Aava 125 will be a male-centric scooter. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 55,000 – Rs 60,000.

This scooter is expected to be fitted with same 125cc engine that was offered in the Dare 125. The single-cylinder 124.6cc engine churns out a maximum power output of 9.38bhp at 7,500rpm along with a peak torque of 9.8Nm at 6,500rpm. For braking, the scooter will get a 200mm hydraulic disc at the front and 130mm drum brake at the rear. Suspension duties will be carried out by telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers and single hydraulic shock absorbers at the front and rear, respectively. The fuel tank capacity stands at 6-litres and it weighs 114kg. Dimensionally, it is 1,820mm long, 975mm wide and 1,180mm tall, and has a ground clearance of 155mm. It will rival the likes of Honda Activa 125 and Suzuki Access 125.
