2020 will be a year for several important car launches. Most of them have already made their public appearance at this year’s Auto Expo. Besides a range all-new models, car manufacturers will also give a mid-life update to their popular existing models. Here, we have listed the top 9 upcoming facelift cars and SUVs that will hit roads in 2020.  

1. Maruti Suzuki Swift

India’s largest passenger vehicle maker, Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the Swift facelift with minor cosmetic and feature upgrades. Though, the major change will come in the form of a BS6-compliant 1.2L Dualjet petrol engine that will replace the existing 1.2L K12B motor. The new Dualjet unit, borrowed from the updated Dzire, will be more powerful and frugal than its replacement. It will deliver power worth 90bhp and mileage between 24.12kmpl (MT) – 23.26kmpl (AMT).

2. Maruti Suzuki S-Cross

The 2020 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The updated model has received a BS6-compliant 1.5L petrol engine with Suzuki’s dual-battery system – SHVS mild hybrid technology. Sourced from the new Vitara Brezza, the gasoline motor pushes out a pea power of 103bhp against 138Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be done by a 4-speed torque convertor automatic and a 5-speed manual gearbox. Minimal changes will be made to its exterior and interior including an updated infotainment system, cruise control, LED projector headlights and 16-inch alloy wheels.

3. Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai Tucson facelift that made its public appearance at the biennial event is ready to hit showrooms. Official launch date is yet to be announced. The 2020 Tucson will continue to come with the 2.0L diesel and petrol engines delivering 185PS with 400Nm and 152PS and 192Nm respectively. Both motors will be paired to a new 8-speed automatic gearbox. Interior of the SUV has been revised with a new 8-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system, Infinity premium sound system and BlueLink connectivity features. Styling has also been tweaked.

4. Toyota Fortuner

Toyota’s top-selling Fortuner SUV will receive a mid-life update in coming months. The vehicle will come with improved styling, slightly upmarket interior and BS6-compliant powertrains. The 2020 Toyota Fortuner is likely to get RAV4 inspired front grille with multiple slats and inserts. The front bumper, headlamps, fog lamps and alloy wheels will also be updated. The SUV might get an upgraded infotainment system, new seat upholstery, steering wheel and gear level. Engine setup will include the BS6-compliant version of the existing 2.7L petrol and 2.8L diesel engines. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

5. Toyota Innova Crysta

The Japanese carmaker will also bring in the Toyota Innova Crysta facelift by the end of this year. The updated model will be offered with BS6-ready 2.7L petrol and 2.4L diesel with manual and automatic gearbox options. In their BS4 form, the petrol unit delivers 164bhp with 245Nm and the oil burner makes 148bhp with 343Nm. Design details of the new Innova Crysta are still under the wraps. Most of the design changes are likely to be made on the front and rear sections. Inside, the MPV might get an updated infotainment system with smartphone connectivity along with a few more new features.

6. Honda WR-V

Honda Cars India confirmed the WR-V facelift for the Indian market. Official bookings have already been commenced at a token amount of Rs 21,000. The facelifted model will come with a LED package including new LED fog lamps, LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs and new LED rear combination lamps. It will also get a new front grille. Powering the 2020 Honda WR-V will be the BS6-compliant 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel engines producing 89bhp with 110Nm and 99bhp with 200Nm respectively. Both units will be offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

7. Mahindra TUV300

In coming months, the home-grown carmaker will bring in the Mahindra TUV300 facelift. On the exterior, the compact SUV will get a new honeycomb grill with six vertical slats, newly-designed headlamps and updated front bumper. For power, the 2020 TUV300 will use the BS6-compliant version of the existing 1.5L turbo diesel engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Its BS4 version delivers a maximum power of 100bhp and a peak torque of 240Nm.  

8. Skoda Superb

The Czech automaker has already confirmed the Skoda Superb facelift for mid 2020. The saloon’s updated model was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The vehicle gets some significant styling changes including new grille with chrome treatment, updated front bumper, newly-designed alloy wheels, new ‘Skoda’ block badging and full rear LED lights. The overall length has been increased by 8mm. The 2020 Skoda Superb facelift also comes with an optional 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainemtn system with gesture and voice control. For power, the vehicle uses a 2.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine with a 7-speed DTC gearbox.

9. Skoda Kodiaq

Skoda Auto India will introduce the Kodiaq facelift by the end of this year. The updated model will be powered by a 2.0L diesel engine pushing out a peak power of 188bhp, thus making it more powerful than the existing 148bhp unit. The 7-seater SUV will come with a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox. Minor changes might also be made on its exterior and interior.
