Hyundai Plans To Launch 5 New SUVs in India

Korean automaker, Hyundai has recently launched the new-gen Creta SUV in the Indian market. In order to further boost sales, the company plans a wide range of sports utility vehicles for the Indian market. Adding to it, Hyundai will also launch the new-gen i20 hatchback and an all-new premium MPV. The premium MPV is reportedly to be the next-gen Starex, which is based on the next-gen Kia Carnival platform. Here is a list of upcoming Hyundai SUVs with expected launch timeline –

Hyundai Creta 7-Seater – 2021
Hyundai Palisade – 2021-22
Next-gen Hyundai Tucson – 2021-22
Hyundai AX micro SUV – 2021
Hyundai new Electric SUV – 2022

New Hyundai Creta Details

Talking about the upcoming new Hyundai SUVs, the company is readying the long-wheelbase version of the Creta, next-gen Tucson and an all-new micro SUV – codenamed AX. Adding to it, Hyundai is considering the Palisade premium SUV as a flagship product in India. Media reports also claim that Hyundai is working on an all-new electric SUV, which will be positioned below the Kona. This electric SUV will challenge the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Mahindra XUV300 EV.

Talking about the Creta 7-Seater, the SUV has recently been caught testing in South Korea. The SUV rides on 20mm longer wheelbase with overall length increased by 30mm. The increase in dimensions and subtle design changes will allow Hyundai to add third row of seats. The SUV’s rear profile will be modified, which is quite evident in the spy images available on the Internet. It gets wider LED tail-lamps integrated on the tailgate. The rear profile is flat compared to the roundish profile of the 5-seater model. The SUV gets new side sills, new roof-rails and slimmer C-pillar and rear quarter glass. Instead of sloping roof, the 7-seater model will have flat roof. The Hyundai Creta 7-Seater SUV will be offered with the existing engine options – a 1.5L petrol, 1.5L diesel and 1.4L turbo petrol.

Hyundai Palisade India Price

The Hyundai Palisade is expected to be priced significantly higher than most of its rivals including Skoda Kodiaq and Ford Endeavour. In terms of position, the Palisade is 4,980mm in length, 1,975mm in width and 1,750mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,900mm. It is expected to receive the 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 200bhp of power and 440Nm of torque. Delivering power to the wheels is an 8-speed automatic gearbox with a multi-plate torque converter. The SUV comes with both two-wheel-drive (2WD) and HTRAC four-wheel-drive (4WD) options.

Hyundai has already started testing the next-gen Tucson SUV, which is rumoured to get a 7-seater version as well. The 7-seater model will be locally developed in India. It will directly rival the likes of the Honda CR-V and the upcoming Jeep 7-Seater SUV. It will be offered with petrol and diesel engine options. The company is also readying an all-new micro SUV, which will be positioned below the Venue compact SUV. Internally called the Hyundai AX, the micro SUV will rival the likes of the upcoming Tata HBX and the Maruti Ignis.
