Suzuki Vitara Facelift Spotted Testing; Pictures & Details

Suzuki Vitara

New Suzuki Vitara facelift will get cosmetic upgrades to exterior and interior.

We informed you earlier that Maruti Suzuki is working on a 7-seater premium SUV for the Indian market. The new SUV is expected to be the global Vitara, but with a longer wheelbase. The new Suzuki Vitara is already on sale in European as well as some Asian countries. Interestingly, Suzuki has started working on the updated version of the SUV, which has recently been spotted during its test rounds on foreign soil.

The spotted model on test was partially camouflaged, and the prototype suggests a revised front and rear ends. It is expected that the SUV will get a new bumper, lower grille and new fog lamp enclosure. The upper grille is also covered, indicating that the vehicle could get an all-new front fascia. It also gets brand new headlights with slightly different 3-dimensional design. Also Read – Maruti Grand Vitara | Maruti Swift 2018

The rear profile of the SUV was partially covered, suggesting that the changes will be minimal. It is expected that the spotted car is the base model, as it is equipped with blue-tinted front lights. The SUV is also likely to get several changes inside the cabin. It is expected to get a new flat-bottomed steering wheel, updated instrument console and air conditioning controls. Besides, the SUV will also get Suzuki’s new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also Read – Upcoming Maruti Cars

Mechanically, the SUV is expected to remain the same. It will continue to feature the 1.6-litre DDiS diesel engine that is capable of producing 118bhp and 320Nm of torque. The gasoline engine is a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated unit, which is likely to be replaced by a 1.0-litre Boosterjet unit. The flagship Vitara S will be powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Like the current model, the updated SUV will get Suzukis AllGrip all-wheel-drive system.

Coming back to India, the global Suzuki Vitara 5 seater SUV is unlikely to make its way to our market. Instead, the company could use the Vitara platform to produce a longer version of the SUV. Maruti is currently selling the Vitara Brezza sub-4 meter SUV, which has received an overwhelming response from buyers.
