1. Maruti Future S

The first model in our list of upcoming Maruti Cars is the new Future S concept that made its global debut at the Delhi Auto Expo 2018. This concept previews Maruti’s future compact car design. Maruti claims that the compact SUV concept shows the company’s next level of “design evolution” in terms of proportions, body sculpting and fusing body patterns and colours. The production version of the Future S is expected to arrive in the market sometime next year. In Maruti’s product lineup, this new mini SUV will be positioned below the Vitara Brezza compact SUV and take on the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and Hyundai’s upcoming compact car.

Measuring 200mm shorter than the Vitara Brezza, the Future S concept features all-new LED headlamps with LED DRLs, thin chrome grille, a high bonnet line, sloping roofline and vertical A-pillar along with the conventional SUV-like characters. The production version of the Future S will be based on Suzuki’s lightweight “HEARTECT” platform that also underpins Maruti’s new breed cars including new Swift and Dzire. While the technical details of the car yet to be revealed, it is likely come with a 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine. Rumors also suggest that the new mini SUV could also get the company’s new 1.5-litre diesel powertrain.

2. New Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

Next in our list of all new upcoming Maruti cars is the Grand Vitara. Though there is no official word about its launch, the SUV could be offered with two seating layout – 5-seats and 7-seats. While the standard 5-seater version will sit above S-Cross and compete against the Hyundai Creta, the 7-seater model will face challenge from cars like Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Hexa. If media reports are to be believed, Maruti Suzuki India is planning to bring a bigger version of the Grand Maruti Suzuki Vitara.

Considering that Suzuki sells Vitara in overseas markets, it is expected to bring the same model for the Indian market. Aiming to curb its manufacturing pricing, Maruti Suzuki will emphasize on higher level of localization. The SUV might also share most of its components from the existing Maruti cars. For instance, it might underpin the Vitara Brezza’s platform. Power for the Grand Vitara is likely to come from the Fiat-sourced 1.6-litre Multijet diesel engine and Suzuki’s global 1.6-litre petrol or the turbocharged 1.4-litre petrol unit. 3. Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol

Considering the high demand for Vitara Brezza among SUV enthusiasts, Maruti Suzuki is planning to bring in the petrol version of the compact SUV. Currently, the Vitara Brezza is available only with a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel powertrain making 89bhp with 200Nm of torque. Powering the petrol variant will be a new .0-litre Boosterjet engine that churns out a maximum power output of 83bhp against 110Nm of torque. It’s the same engine that does duty in the Baleno RS. Media reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki could also use its 1.2-litre unit that’s good enough for 83bhp and 110Nm of torque. Unlike the diesel engine that comes only with a manual gearbox, the petrol unit could receive an AMT unit. Though, the design and dimensions of the vehicle will remain unchanged. 4. New-generation Maruti Wagon R

Maruti WagonR is one of the top-selling hatchbacks in India. The Indo-Japanese carmaker will soon introduce the new-generation model of the WagonR with completely new design and a pack of comfort and safety features. Aiming to make the new Maruti WagonR complaint to the new safety norms, the company will re-engineer its existing platform instead of using the new HEARTECT architecture. Unlike the Japan-spec model, the India-bound WagonR will have more compact dimensions. Though, it will continue to feature the tall boy and boxy stance. Face of the hatchback will be completely revised with new grille, a longer bonnet, re-designed bumper and sweptback headlights.

In order to make it a safer machine, the Indo-Japanese carmaker will introduce the ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake force distribution and dual airbags as standard safety fitments. The list of features might also include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. As far as the engine is concerned, the new Maruti WagonR 2018 will make a use of the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder K-series petrol motor making 67bhp with 91Nm of torque. The hatchback will be offered with two gearbox options – a 5-speed manual and an AGS unit.

5. Maruti Wagon R MPV

Maruti Wagon R MPV is one of the most-awaited upcoming Maruti cars in India. We had the first glimpse of the MPV in 2013 at the Indonesia International Motor Show, followed by its India debut at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. Ever since its unveiling, the vehicle raked in positive response from the experts and visitors alike. Akin to Ertiga, the Wagon R based MPV will feature a seven-seat layout inside. The MPV is being developed under the codename, YJC and is likely to be launch alongside other upcoming Maruti cars in 2018 or 2019.

Reports also suggest that Maruti could launch it by the end of this year, though we still await an official confirmation on the same. In terms of styling, the MPV is expected to retain most of the elements from the concept model. Proportional changes will include increased length, though the wheelbase will be retained. 6. New Maruti Alto 800

Similar to the other prominent upcoming Maruti cars like Swift, this one will also receive radical changes on the outside and inside. 7. Maruti Ciaz 2018

Maruti Ciaz Facelift Changes Rearoining the list of upcoming Maruti cars in India is the Ciaz sedan facelift. First launched in 2014, the Maruti Ciaz has always been a volume generator for the carmaker in India. In order to further boost its sales, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is planning to give a mid-life update to the sedan. The new Maruti Ciaz 2018 will hit showrooms by mid August, 2018. Changes made to the sedan will primarily include styling updates and a new 1.5-litre M15 petrol unit that will replace the current 1.4-litre engine. Moreover, the Fiat sourced 1.3-litre oil burner will continue to be on offer. Maruti might replace the oil burner with an all-new, indigenously built 1.5-litre motor at a later stage. This new diesel unit will be compliant to the new emission norms.

Talking about the styling, the new Ciaz will witness major upgrades on the front fascia. It will get a new chrome laden single frame grille with squared shaped upper corners, new bumper with new gloss black housing for fog lamps with chrome line and a thin back strips above the fog lamps. 8. Maruti Suzuki Jimny 2018

Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be one of the several other upcoming Maruti cars set for launch in 2018 or 2019. The carmaker showcased the new-generation Jimny at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January, 2017. Globally, the SUV will be offered with two doors and a short wheelbase. On the contrary, the extended wheelbase version with four-doors will make its way to India. Underpinning the body-on-frame chassis, the Maruti Jimny features large front grille, round-shaped headlamps, squared-off wheel arches, large alloys and sporty rear design.

Inside, the SUV might feature a newly-designed dashboard, steering wheel, new AC vents and buttons. Feature such as Suzuki’s SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be restricted to the high-spec trim. 9. Maruti Swift Sport

While there is a lot of anticipation for the new Maruti Swift, rumours in media suggest, Maruti could also bring the sportier Swift Sport or the Swift RS version to India. Previewed at the International Motor Show in September, 2017, the new Maruti Swift Sport uses the brand’s ‘HEARTECT’ platform making it lighter, faster and more efficient than the outgoing model. Major exterior updates include revised front bumper, gloss black front grille, 17-inch alloys, newly-designed C-pillar, a black diffuser with twin exhausts and sporty rear bumper with gloss black finish.

10. Maruti Ertiga 2018

Japanese automaker, Suzuki had unveiled the new generation Ertiga MPV at the 2018 Indonesia International Motor Show. This MPV will soon make its way to Indian market as well. The compact MPV was instrument in starting the compact MPV segment in India, though most of the models failed to sustain competition due to low demand for MPVs, Ertiga continues to be one of the top selling MPVs in India. Underpinning the new-gen Ertiga will be Suzuki’s lightweight HEARTECT platform that will make it more fuel efficient and safer than the current model. On the exterior, the MPV gets new grille with chrome enhancement, projector headlamps, revised bumper with wider air-dam, new fog lamp assembly, new alloys and ORVMs and new wraparound taillights.

Feature-wise, the new Ertiga will be richer than the current generation. The list of features includes new 6.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, etc. The Indonesian-spec new Ertiga is equipped with a new 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine and the same engine could also power the India-spec model. The outgoing car is equipped with a 1.4-litre K14B petrol engine. 11. Maruti Baleno 2018

Another prominent facelift on the list of upcoming Maruti cars is the 2018 Baleno. This will be the first facelift of the hatchback featuring minor cosmetic and feature changes. Just so you know, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is also working on the new-generation Baleno that is expected to be unveiled by 2021. The 2018 Maruti Baleno facelift will see minor design updates including new chromed grille, revised headlamps and front bumper, new roof mounted spoiler, newly-designed alloys and re-designed taillamp graphics.

New tech on the inside will include Suzuki’s upgraded SmartPlay infotainment system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with new seat upholstery and interior theme. Mechanically, the hatchback is likely to remain unchanged. Similar to the current model, the 2018 Baleno will use the same 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol and a 1.3-litre diesel engine. 12. Maruti Ertiga Crossover

This is another model among the all-new Upcoming Maruti cars that will join the line-up either by the end of 2018 or early 2019.  The Ertiga based crossover is being developed under the YHB codename and will be one of the three new models in its UV range. The concept version of the Ertiga crossover was first previewed in 2015 at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). While it will share HEARTECT underpinnings with new Dzire and Baleno, the model will borrow styling cues from the regular Ertiga. One must note that YHB will be larger than its donor MPV and will pack in additional kit. Power source on the vehicle will be Suzuki’s indigenously developed 1.5-litre oil burner that could also be used in the Ciaz facelift.
