Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza Compact SUV

This will surely up the game for Brezza against Tata’s upcoming compact SUV – Nexon.

The festive season is just around the corner, and all the car manufacturers aim to encash the occasion. You will see lots of special editions, facelifts and new product launches in coming days. One of them will be the automatic version of Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling SUV – Vitara Brezza.

According to a latest report, Maruti Suzuki is planning to bring in an AMT (automated manual transmission) or a CVT variant of the Vitara Brezza. While the AMT gearbox will be offered on the existing diesel model, the latter one will come with the petrol version which is due for the festive season. This will surely up the game for Brezza against the Tata Nexon, which is set to go on sale on September 21, 2017.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki is currently selling 10,000 units of the Vitara Brezza on monthly basis. Despite the high demand, the carmaker has managed to reduce its waiting period up to 15 days. As a reminder, the waiting period of the compact SUV was up to 4 to 5 months a few months back. Read: Upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars in India

Launched in 2016, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza received phenomenal response from buyers. The SUV crossed over 1.5 lakh units sales milestone in July 2017. With significant sales contribution, the SUV helped the carmaker become India’s largest utility vehicle for the first quarter of FY17.

Powering the SUV is a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine that’s good for 89bhp and 200Nm of torque. The company is also planning to bring in the petrol version of the car during this festive season. The new model will share its engine with the Baleno RS – i.e. 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol. This motor, with a 5-speed manual gearbox, makes 100.5bhp against 150Nm of torque.

The new Maruti Vitara Brezza automatic variant is estimated to come within the range of Rs 8 to Rs 11 lakh. At this price, it will go up against the Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Hyundai Creta and Mahindra TUV300.
