The compact SUV space is surely one of the most competitive segments in the Indian automobile industry. Currently dominated by the Maruti Vitara Brezza, this fierce segment will soon see several all-new releases in the form of Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Carlino. Aiming to withstand with existing and upcoming new rivals, Maruti Suzuki has launched the new 2018 Vitara Brezza with automatic gearbox. Available in four variants – VDI, ZDI, ZDI+ and ZDI+ – the new Vitara Brezza AMT is priced in the range of Rs 8.54 lakh and Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 2018 Maruti Vitara Brezza model comes equipped with dual front airbags and ABS as standard along with some new additions. The AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) gearbox is being offered with the diesel engine. The compact SUV is currently available in diesel version only; powered by the 89bhp, 1.3-litre MJD diesel powertrain. Interestingly, the AMT gearbox is offered in the mid and top-spec variants – VDI AMT, ZDI AMT, ZDI+ AMT and ZDI+ Dual-tone AMT. The Brezza AMT will directly challenge the Tata Nexon AMT and it is the most affordable in its category. Besides AMT, the 2018 Brezza mechanics remain unchanged.

The AMT-equipped version of the Brezza compact SUV is slightly more expensive than the manual variants. While the manual diesel models come in the price range of Rs 7.42 lakh – Rs 9.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). On the other hand, the automatic Brezza is available in four variants – VDi AGS, ZDi AGS, ZDi+ AGS and ZDi+ Dual Tone AGS – priced between Rs 8.54 lakh and Rs 10.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). As mentioned above, Maruti Suzuki has offered the automated manual transmission (AMT) with the diesel engine and the upcoming petrol model might come with a CVT gearbox option. The compact SUV derives its power from a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder Multi-jet diesel engine generating power worth 89bhp and 200Nm of torque. The 2018 Brezza is now available with two new exterior paint jobs – Autumn Orange with Pearl Arctic White roof and Autumn Orange. Other color options include Blazing Red with Midnight Black roof, Fiery Yellow with Pearl Arctic White roof, Pearl Arctic White, Granite Grey, Premium Silver, Blazing Red and Fiery Yellow.
No major changes have been made to the new 2018 Vitara Brezza model. The car continues with LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs, honeycomb airdam, body-coloured bumper and 16-inch alloy wheels (higher trims only). Dimensions, too, remain unchanged. However, the SUV gets new glossy black alloy wheels that give it a sporty look. Adding to it, the front chrome grille and back door chrome garnish have been made standard across all variants.
The cabin of the urban compact SUV have been refreshed with an all-black colour scheme and complementing accents. The list of standard features includes audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, tilt-adjustable steering, manual AC, driver airbag and speed sensitive door locks. Equipment such as Smartplay infotainment with CarPlay and navigation with Mapcare, reverse parking camera, cruise control with steering mounted controls and keyless entry are reserved for the high-spec trims.
The 2018 Maruti Vitara Brezza now complies with advanced safety regulations, including pedestrian safety. It is now equipped with ISOFIX child restraint system, high speed warning alert, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, reverse parking sensors and front seat belt pre-tensioners and force limiters as standard safety features.
