The Maruti Vitara Brezza AMT (Automatic) will derive its power from the same 1.3-litre multijet diesel unit that does duty in the manual version.
Made-in-India Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has made its Indonesia debut at 2016 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show). To be sold as Suzuki Vitara Brezza in Indonesia, the sub-compact SUV will be offered with only one engine – 1.3-litre Multijet – which is the same that does duty in the model on sale in India. However, the Indonesian model also gets an automatic transmission unlike India. A 5-speed manual gearbox too will be on offer in Indonesia.
The sub-4 metre SUV is doing phenomenally well in India, as it has already crossed over 1 lakh bookings so far. In a bid to offer a variety of options to its buyers, the company has plans to bring in a petrol as well as a diesel automatic version in India. Though the India-bound model will feature an automated manual transmission instead of the conventional auto gearbox.
As mentioned earlier, the Indonesia-spec model will feature the same Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet diesel that does duty in the Indian model as well. Mated to a 5-speed manual, this engine churns out a maximum power output of 89bhp and a peak torque of 200Nm.
Though the company hasn’t said anything about its exact launch timeline, we don’t think it will happen anytime before mid-2017. The reason we say this is because of the fact that the company is already facing a lot of production-constraint, and launching an AMT might convert into even longer waiting period.
The engine of the AMT-equipped version is the same that powers the manual variants, so expect the former to be about Rs 50,000 – Rs 60,000 pricier than the existing variants.
|Engine||1.3-L Multijet Diesel|
As mentioned earlier, the Brezza AMT will feature a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, unit. This engine will produce 89bhp and 200Nm. The same engine also powers the manual diesel version.
With no change in power, we can safely expect the Brezza AMT to return the mileage equivalent to the manual variant. The manual version is claimed to return an ARAI-certified mileage of 24.3kmpl.
