Maruti Suzuki Registers Close To 1.50 Lakh Sales In February, 2018

In the compact and UV segments, Maruti Suzuki clocked a growth of 38.7% and 13.8% respectively.

The month of February (2018) has been quite fruitful for India’s largest passenger carmaker – Maruti Suzuki. The Indo-Japanese carmaker registered a total monthly sales of 149,824 units accounting a growth of 15.0% over the same period last fiscal. While the domestic sales of the company stood at 137,900 units, it exported 11,924 units. As a reminder, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 130,280 units in February previous year. In the compact segment that includes new Swift, Baleno and Ignis, the carmaker recorded 65,213 units, which is 38.7% better over the corresponding year. Other major sales contributors were Maruti Vitara Brezza and S-Cross crossover. The carmaker registered 13.8% rise in the utility vehicle segment.

In fact, the Alto and WagonR that saw negative growth for last several months, also clocked a growth of 2.1%. The carmaker’s mid-size sedan – Ciaz witnessed a drop of 16% with a total sales of 4,897 units against 5,886 units in February, 2017. Considering the falling sales of the Ciaz, the company is planning to bring in the first mid-life facelift of the vehicle that might hit showrooms by mid 2018.

Maruti Suzuki’s all-new Swift has been receiving overwhelming response from buyers, and garnered over 60,000 bookings so far. These figures have been achieved in a little more than one month since the official bookings for the vehicle were commenced.
