Since its launch in September 2017, the Tata Nexon has been a hot choice among buyers. The company is selling the sub-4 meter compact SUV with a monthly average of 4,500 units. In the first three months of this fiscal year, the Nexon recorded a total sales of 13,173 units as against the Ford EcoSport that registered sales of 13,138 units. The former has a lead of 38 units in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
In June 2018, Tata Nexon outsold the Ford EcoSport with a significant difference of 301 units. While Tata Motors managed to sell 4,308 units of the Nexon SUV, the EcoSport registered sales of 4,007 units. Attributes such as unique styling, feature-packed interior and efficient engine lineup have worked in the favour of Tata’s sub-4 meter compact SUV.

Aiming to further boost its sales, the home-grown carmaker introduced an AMT (automated manual transmission) version of the Nexon. Available on both petrol and diesel engine options, the Tata Nexon AMT is priced from Rs 9.41 lakh to Rs 10.30 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine of the SUV delivers 108bhp with 170Nm of torque, and the 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq diesel motor returns 108bhp with 260Nm of torque. On fuel efficiency ground, the Nexon is on par with its arch rival – Ford EcoSport. While the former delivers a claimed mileage of 17.88kmpl (petrol) and 23.97kmp (diesel), the latter one promises 17kmpl (petrol) and 23kmpl (diesel).
