The battle in the competitive mid-sized sedan segment is hotting up. The key contenders in this segment are Honda City, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Verna, which recently joined by Toyota Yaris. While the Ciaz and Yaris lacks behind in terms of sheer numbers, the Hyundai Verna and Honda City running neck to neck to gain supremacy of the market. Last month, Hyundai Verna beats the City sedan by just 19 units.
Hyundai had delivered 3901 units of the Verna sedan in June, while Honda dispatched 3,882 units of City sedan. Toyota Yaris and Maruti Ciaz sales number stands at 1,919 and 1,579 respectively. What’s more interesting is that Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was the best-selling mid-sized sedan in May 2018. This suggests that the Indo-Japanese brand is all set to introduce the facelifted Ciaz sedan soon.

We informed you earlier that Maruti Suzuki will launch the Ciaz facelift in the country in August 2018. The Ciaz facelift will receive several new design changes including new sunroof and new grille. It will be powered by a more powerful 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine producing 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. This engine will also power the Ertiga MPV.
In case of City sedan, Honda has increased the new Amaze production to meet the rising demand. Honda has also started working on the next-generation City sedan, which will receive a petrol hybrid powertrain. It is expected to be launched in 2019-2020.
