Tata Motors had showcased the AMT version of its highly popular Nexon compact SUV. Now, the company has finally launched the 2018 Tata Nexon AMT (automatic) in the country. It is offered in the top-spec ZXA+ variant in both petrol and diesel guise. While the petrol AMT model is tagged at Rs 9.41 lakh, the top-spec diesel AMT model is priced at Rs 10.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Bookings for this model have already been started at an initial amount of Rs 11,000. It is the first in the compact SUV segment to feature a diesel-automatic combination. Just to jog your memory, Besides Nexon, Tata had unveiled two all-new concepts – H5X compact SUV and 45X premium hatchback at the Auto Expo.
With attributes such as unique styling, feature-laden cabin, highly efficient engines and of-course the aggressive pricing, the Tata Nexon compact SUV has taken the industry by storm. The SUV has been receiving an excellent response from car buyers since its launch in September, 2017. With AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) version, Tata Motors is aiming to further improve its sales in the highly competitive market. Available in both 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, the AMT-equipped Nexon is offered in the top-spec XZA+ trim. While the petrol AMT is priced at Rs 9.41 lakh, the diesel version of the compact SUV is tagged at Rs 10.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Save for the AMT unit and a new dual-tone, orange and silver paint scheme, the car remains unchanged. Based on the range-topping XZA+ trim, the 2018 Tata Nexon AMT comes with the 1.2-litre Revotron turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq diesel engine options. While the gasoline unit pushes out a maximum power of 108bhp and a peak torque of 179Nm, the oil burner makes a top power of 108bhp against 260Nm of torque. These figures make the Nexon the second most powerful compact SUV in the country.
Unlike the manual version of the SUV that comes with a 6-speed MT gearbox, the Nexon automatic variant will feature Magneti Marelli sourced 6-speed AMT unit. The latter one is also offered on the Tiago AMT and Zest. The new gearbox unit offer a creep mode that controls the throttle inputs in stop-and-go situations. 2018 Tata Nexon AMT (Automatic) Exterior Design
Built on Tata’s new IMPACT design philosophy, the Nexon is one of the best-looking cars in its segment. In terms of design and styling, the Nexon automatic looks exactly similar to the standard model. Face of the car continues to be adorned by projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and dual shade fog lamps with ceramic white strip. It runs on 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and feature LED tail lamps at the rear.
Tata offers the Nexon XZA AMT in a new exterior colour – Etna Orange. The SUV is also available in regular five shades – Moroccan Blue, Glasgow Grey, Seattle Silver, Vermont Red and Calgary White. The XZA+ trim is available in dual-tone shade with a gloss black finished roof. Proportionally, too, the car remain unchanged. Similar to the standard model, it measures 3,995mm in length, 1,730mm in width and 1,600mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,470mm. This compact SUV comes with a ground clearance of 200mm, which is more than sufficient to tackle Indian road conditions.

Since the Nexon AMT is based on the range-topping XZA trim, it is loaded with all comfort and safety features. The car comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Features such as an 8-speaker Harman-sourced audio system, automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheels, rear AC vents, standard dual airbags and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution) will also be on offer.

Just like the regular Nexon, the AMT version of the SUV is loaded with several comfort and convenience features. The list of features includes air-flow with rear air-conditioning vents, electrically adjustable ORVMs with retractable feature, automatic climate control, engine start-stop button, two 12-V power sockets, driver armrest, etc.

The AMT version of the SUV is equipped with prominent safety and security features including dual front airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with electronic brakeforce distribution, park assist with rear sensors with camera, day and night inside rear-view mirror, front fog lamps with cornering assistance, rear fog lamps, etc.
