Maruti Suzuki’s Next 2 Year Plans Revealed

Maruti Suzuki will roll out at least 10-12 new models in coming 18-24 months.

The next two years will be busiest for the Indo-Japanese carmaker – Maruti Suzuki. The company will roll out at least 10-12 new models in coming 18-24 months along with announcements for its new facility, culmination of Suzuki-Toyota partnership and network expansion.

The carmaker will make a cumulative investment over Rs 13,000 – 14,000 crore for new products, technologies and plant capacity expansion in the next two years. MSI aims to sell 1.9 to 2 million units and achieve a growth rate of 6-8% in 2019, before the price increase due to new safety and emission norms in 2020.

Maruti Suzuki will introduce four new small cars in the next 18 months. The first one to arrive in the market will be the new-generation WagonR which is due for 23rd January, 2019. The Maruti Future Concept S based vehicle (codenamed Y1K) will make its way during this year’s festive season. The next-generation Celerio and WagonR EV (electric version) will come sometime next year.

The company will also upgrade some of its highly popular models to make them compliant to upcoming safety and BS6 emission norms. The list will include Ignis, Alto800, Eeco and Super Carry. The launch of Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Vitara Brezza will facelifts are also on cards.

The Indo-Japanese carmaker will soon introduce its newly-developed 1.5L diesel engine to Ciaz sedan and Ertiga carlines. The Maruti Vitara Brezza petrol model will also be among the Maruti Suzuki cars scheduled to go on sale this year.

The Toyota Corolla Altis based Maruti sedan (rebadged version) will be the first model to roll out under Suzuki-Toyota partnership. This new sedan will hit roads in FY 2019-2020, and retailed via NEXA dealerships.
