India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki has unveiled a prototype of WagonR electric vehicle at the MOVE Summit in New Delhi. Though, company hasn’t revealed the name of this model. Called Prototype EV, the new model looks largely identical to the Japanese-spec WagonR. It is expected that the production-ready model will share several design highlights from the prototype. The prototype looks largely similar to the standard WagonR, which is currently on sale in the Japanese market since 2017. The vehicle has a huge two-part grille at the front and split headlamps. On the sides, the vehicle looks sporty featuring a body coloured B-pillar that divides the car into distinct front and rear passenger sections. The lower section of the pillar is thick, while the wing mirror is positioned on the door. The company will launch the new-gen WagonR electric vehicle in the country in April 2020. The specifications of the India-spec model are yet to be revealed. The new WagonR EV is expected to cost more than twice the price of the standard car. This model will be used for the rear world road-testing in India. It is developed on an existing model by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan and manufactured at Maruti Suzuki Gurugram plant in India.
