Yamaha to launch an all-new motorcycle in India on January 21, 2019.

Yamaha India is all set to launch an all-new motorcycle in the country on January 21, 2019. In a rather surprising move, the Japanese brand has shared a media invite for the launch of an all-new product in Bengaluru. The invite hasn’t revealed much about the specifics of what product could it be. The new motorcycle could be the premium Yamaha MT-15 naked streetfighter, which is based on the new R15 V3.0. The company is also testing the new FZ 15 V3 and it could be the next big Yamaha for Indian market.

Talking about Yamaha MT-15, this naked streetfighter will be the brand’s new premium 150cc motorcycle. It will share majority of the components with the R15 V3.0. The naked bike is likely to get a 155cc, single-cylinder petrol engine that produces 19bhp of power and 15Nm of torque. Similar to the faired sibling, the new bike will come with a six-speed transmission and a slip and assist clutch. Instead of the inverted forks, the India-spec model will get conventional telescopic forks. It is also expected to get ABS system as standard. If launched in India, the new motorcycle is likely to cost around Rs 1.20 lakh, which will make it a direct rival to the likes of TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Hero Xtreme 200R and Bajaj Pulsar NS200.

We believe that Yamaha could introduce the new-generation FZ 15 V3.0, which has been spotted testing multiple times on Indian roads. The 2019 Yamaha FZ FI will share styling cues from the new FZ25 and will have sportier stance than the current model. The motorcycle gets new belly pan, tank extensions with faux air scoops, muscular fuel tank and newly designed headlamps. The headlamp could be LED unit, while the tail-lamp will be sourced from the existing model.

The new FZ 15 V3 is expected to receive the upgraded version of the existing 150cc engine. This engine could receive a slight bump in power and torque outputs. The motorcycle will receive ABS system as standard.
