The 2019 Yamaha MT 15 sport-naked bike shares platform and engine specs with new R15 V3.0
Japanese two-wheeler maker, Yamaha is working on a range of two-wheelers for the Indian market. The company has already started working on the new-gen FZ FI, which is likely to arrive in 2019. Moreover, ABS versions of the FZ 25, Fazer 25 and R15 V3.0 will also come in 2019. What’s more interesting is that Yamaha is also planning to launch the new Yamaha MT 15 sport-naked motorcycle for India. The bike was recently unveiled in Thailand in the presence of Valentino Rossi.
The 2019 Yamaha MT15 is basically a naked streetfighter version of the popular R15 V3.0, which was launched at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The motorcycle’s design is inspired from the bigger Yamaha MT-09, though the platform is being shared with the R15. Not just platform, the bike shares the 155cc, liquid-cooled engine with the fully-faired sibling.
2019 Yamaha MT 15 Launch Date In India
Yamaha is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of this naked bike. However, media reports claim that the MT-15 could arrive in 2019. We will update you on the same as soon as Yamaha announces anything on the launch details.
2019 Yamaha MT 15 Price In India
It is basically the naked version of the R15 V3.0. The bike is expected to be priced slightly lesser than the fully-faired motorcycle, which will receive ABS version in 2019. Expect the new bike to cost somewhere between Rs 1.20 lakh and Rs 1.30 lakh.
2019 Yamaha MT 15 Specifications
As mentioned above, Yamaha’s new sport-naked bike shares engine with the popular fully-faired entry-level sportsbike – R15 V3.0. It is propelled by a 155.1cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, which is boosted with Yamaha’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) and Single OverHead Cam (SOHC) technology. This new engine churns out a maximum power output of 19.04bhp at 10,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.7Nm at 8,500rpm. For transmission duties, the bike gets a six-speed gearbox with slip assist clutch.
2019 Yamaha MT 15 Mileage
Packed with a new 155.1cc engine, the new MT-15 is likely to be more frugal than the fully-faired version. The India-spec model will be lighter, thanks to some modification and light-weight body panels. It is expected to return around 40-45kmpl.

The new naked bike can attain a top speed of around 135kmph – 140kmph, which is quite impressive for a 155cc naked bike.
2019 Yamaha MT 15 Suspension & Braking
The global model is equipped with premium upside-down forks at the front and monoshock unit at the rear. However, the India-spec model will have conventional telescopic forks upfront and monoshock absorber at the rear. Braking system comprises of 267mm front disc and 220mm disc with a floating calliper. The bike will also come equipped with ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) and slipper clutch as standard.
2019 Yamaha MT 15 Design
This sport-naked bike’s design is heavily inspired from the bigger MT-series motorcycles. The major attraction of this bike is the newly developed bug-eyed LED headlamp unit, which gives it an aggressive look. Some of the design highlights include a muscular fuel tank, a slim tail section, single-piece seat, and a newly designed digital instrument console.
In terms of proportions, the new MT 15 is 1,965mm long, 800mm wide and 1,065mm tall. The bike comes with a wheelbase of 1,335mm, while the saddle height stands at 810mm. The motorcycle rides on 10-spoke, 17-inch alloys, which are wrapped with 110-section front and 140-section rear tyres.
