Tata 45X concept based premium hatchback will be brand’s first product to use new Alfa architecture.

We informed you earlier that Tata will launch the 45X concept based premium hatchback by mid 2019. This premium hatchback was first showcased as 45X concept at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo and is currently in testing phase. A new set of spy images have revealed the interior and design details of the premium hatchback. This time the new model has been spotted while doing cold weather testing in Leh-Ladakh.

The Tata 45X premium hatchback will challenge the dominance of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20 in the B+ hatchback segment. The spotted model was the base version, which misses out on some premium features. The spotted car was fully covered, featuring circular headlamps and rectangular taillights. Tata 45X Spy Pictures

Featuring low and sleek profile, the 45X production ready model will look largely identical to the concept car. The test car was riding on steel wheels, which also hinting towards base trim. Not just exterior, a new interior picture giving us a good idea about the cabin design and features on offer in base variant. The report further claims that the 45X test vehicle’s speedometer shows a top speed of 220km/h, while the rev counter shows 8,000rpm. The hatch was previously spotted while taking sharp corners at the Kari Motor Speedway race track. The engine options to be on offer include a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. Both engines produce 108bhp of power and 170Nm and 260Nm of torque respectively. A six-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. The hatchback is also likely to get a newly developed dual-channel automatic gearbox.
