Next-gen Tata Sumo with IMPACT Design 2.0 philosophy not coming before 2020.

Tata Motors had showcased the new IMPACT 2.0 Design philosophy with H5X and 45X concepts at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. This design philosophy will inspired a new range of Tata cars for the domestic market. The first model to be based on this design philosophy is the Tata Harrier, which will be followed by a 45X based premium hatchback. How about a next-gen Tata Sumo with IMPACT 2.0 Design! A latest rendering suggests a possible design of the next-gen Sumo.

Tata Motors had launched the Sumo in 1994, and is still popular in many parts of the country. Though Tata is yet to announce anything on the next-gen Tata Sumo, we believe that next-gen Sumo with modern styling and off-road capabilities could do wonders in semi-urban and rural India.

Despite featuring Tata’s new IMPACT Design philosophy, the rendering carries forward the original Sumo’s ruggedness and bulky profile. While the current model has straight lines and boxy design, the rendered model has curves and large windows. The rendering has skid plate at the front and plastic cladding all around. The SUV could have sleek headlamps, similar to the one offered in the Harrier. The next-gen SUMO will target Tier II and Tier III cities. Similar to the new breed of Tata cars like Tiago and Nexon, the next-gen Sumo could get modern features and a premium look. Tata has no plans of launching the next-gen Sumo before 2020. If next-gen model will arrive, it will get an all-new BSVI compliant engine.
