Nissan ‘Magnite’ Compact SUV Launching Within 4 Months

Nissan Magnite Compact SUV Teased

In January 2020, Nissan confirmed a sub-4 meter compact SUV for the Indian market. While the official name and details of the vehicle are yet to be announced, it’s reported to be christened ‘Nissan Magnite’. The Japanese carmaker has filed a trademark application for a new vehicle that could be used for the new sub-4 meter SUV. For people not in the know, the company had filed a trademark application for ‘Datsun Magnite’ compact SUV last year.

The carmaker has confirmed that the new Nissan compact SUV will hit showrooms within next 4 months. Based on the modified CMF-A platform, the Magnite will take on cars like Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport. The upcoming Kia Sonet and Renault HBC (codename) compact SUV will also go up against the Nissan Magnite.

The official teaser pictures reveal the SUV’s silhouette that looks similar to the Nissan Kicks. It carries a floating roof design with silver roof rails and contrast colour option along with LED taillamps with honeycomb mesh pattern. Read – 2020 Nissan Kicks Facelift Might Get e-Power Tech

Similar to the Kicks, it might get a triangular quarter glass at the back with a wide C-pillar. There might also be flared wheel arches, side body cladding and prominent character lines.

Some of its design bits could be inspired by the new-generation Nissan Juke crossover. Interior details of the vehicle are still under the wraps. Though, the carmaker has confirmed that it will come with connected vehicle technology. Check Out – 2020 Nissan Juke Pictures & Details

Under the hood, the Nissan Magnite is likely to feature a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (codenamed – HR10). The same powertrain will also be used in the upcoming Renault HBC compact SUV. The gasoline motor will deliver a peak power of around 100PS. Nissan might offer the SUV with two gearbox options – manual and AMT. There will be no diesel engine on offer.
