Next-Gen Ford EcoSport New Renderings Show Possible Design

Next-gen Ford EcoSport Rendered

We reported earlier that Ford is working on the next-gen EcoSport compact SUV, which is expected to arrive in 2021-22. The international-spec model will ride on the modified version of the existing platform, which is shared with the Fiesta. It is expected that the India-spec model will be based on the Mahindra’s X100 platform that underpins the XUV300 and the SsangYong Tivoli.

A couple of new renderings from Kleber Silva show the possible design of the next-gen Ford EcoSport. In fact, one of the renderings is based on the Mahindra XUV300. The rendering shows that the overall silhouette of the next-gen EcoSport will be similar to the XUV300, though it will have completely revised front design. The front has new and big grille with Ford logo embossed on the sculpted bonnet. It gets sleeker headlamp unit with LED DRLs, while the fog lamp housing gets black inserts.

The second rendering is based on the Tivoli compact SUV with most of the design similar to the Korean SUV. It gets the brand’s signature front grille with chrome highlights on the horizontal slats, big and sleeker headlamp unit, stylish fog lamp housing, sculpted bonnet and dual-tone bumper.

International media claims that the next Ford EcoSport’s development work is underway at Ford’s Camacari plant in Brazil. Called the ‘Project BX775’, the new model is claimed to be developed on very unique lines and will be vastly different from the outgoing model. The next-gen Ford EcoSport will ride on a longer wheelbase, which will allow the company to free more space inside the cabin. Adding to it, the SUV will come with hidden spare wheel. The removal of tailgate mounted spare wheel will allow Ford designers to work on the exterior styling of the SUV. Also See – Hyundai Venue Vs Mahindra XUV300

It was reported that the next-gen Ford EcoSport for Indian market could use the Mahindra’s 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the XUV300. This engine currently produces 110bhp and 200Nm of torque. The powertrain can produce up to 130bhp of power. Ford is likely to use this engine in-place of the expensive EcoBoost engine.
