New Maruti Suzuki Ertiga In Great Demand; Waiting Period Increased
The new Maruti Ertiga has an average 800 bookings per day.
MPVs (Multi Purpose Vehicles) are becoming one of the hot favorites among Indian buyers. The proof of this lies in the fact that the around 70,000 people have brought new MPVs over SUVs (Sporty Utility Vehicles) in the last few months. The MPVs are favoured for their practicality, muscular body built and competitive pricing. Recently, we have seen launches of the two new MPVs – the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the all-new Mahindra Marazzo.
RS Kalsi, Executive Director, Sales and Marketing at Maruti Suzuki, confirmed that the new Maruti Ertiga has an average 800 bookings per day. In the last six weeks, the carmaker received 37,000 bookings for the MPV. Considering the increasing demand, the vehicle’s waiting period has also gone up to 3 months. Currently, the new Maruti Ertiga is available in the price range of Rs 7.44 lakh – Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). While the petrol models cost between Rs 7.44 lakh – Rs 9.95 lakh, the diesel variants are priced between Rs 8.84 lakh – Rs 10.90 lakh. Read – New Maruti Ertiga Vs Mahindra Marazzo
Sitting on the new HEARTECT platform, the new Maruti Ertiga comes with a new 1.5L VVT SHVS petrol and the old 1.3L MJD SHVS diesel engine options. The company will soon replace the old Multijet diesel motor with a new, more powerful 1.5L unit that will meet the BS6 emission norms. The MPV carline is available with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
In coming months, the Indo-Japanese carmaker will also introduce the CNG version of the new Maruti Ertiga. If reports are to be believed, the company is also considering a 6-seater model of the MPV.
