The Indo-Japanese carmaker introduced the second-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with significant cosmetic, feature and mechanical changes. The MPV’s new model receives a new 104bbhp, 1.5L K15B petrol engine boosted with SHVS mild hybrid technology instead of old 1.4L petrol motor. However, the tried-and-tested 1.3L Multijet SHVS diesel engine continued to power the vehicle.

While the new gasoline engine meets the upcoming BSVI emission norms, the old oil burner doesn’t. Therefore, the company will soon replace the 1.3L Multijet diesel powertrain with a new BSVI-ready 1.5L diesel motor benefited with SHVS technology. The exact power and torque figures of the new 1.5L diesel engine are still unknown to us. It’s likely to be more powerful, fuel efficient and refined than its replacement. It might deliver power close to 108.4bhp (110PS) and torque around 270Nm. Currently, the new Maruti Ertiga 2018 carline comes with a 5-speed manual and an optional 4-speed automatic torque converter. The Maruti Ertiga with a new 1.5L diesel engine is likely to be introduced before the new BSVI emission norms will be enforced i.e. April 2020. Visually, the new diesel model will look exactly similar to its petrol counterpart. The feature list will also remain unchanged. The new Maruti Ertiga 2018 has been doing well for the carmaker. The company received around 10,000 booking for the MPV that’s reported to command a waiting period of 2 to 3 months.
