Maruti Suzuki is currently in the process of fine-tuning the new 1.5L petrol engine with CNG fuel.

India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki has launched the new-generation Ertiga MPV. The new model is available in 4 trim levels – L, V, Z and Z+ – in petrol and diesel guise. The MPV is priced at Rs 7.74 lakh for the base petrol model, which goes up to Rs 10.90 lakh for the top-spec diesel model.

The new generation Maruti Ertiga is bigger, spacious and feature-loaded than the previous model. Additionally, the MPV gets a more powerful 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 105bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. The petrol smart hybrid set-up on the Ertiga comes with dual battery set-up for the idle start-stop system and the torque assist function. The new version receives a significant rise in fuel economy. It is claimed to return an ARAI certified mileage of 19.34kmpl for petrol manual and 18.59 lakh for the petrol automatic. The diesel version is fitted with the tried & tested 89bhp, 1.3-litre DDiS engine paired to a single-battery setup for SHVS mild hybrid tech.

While the previous generation model was available in CNG version as well, the new model is only offered in petrol and diesel guise. The previous Ertiga CNG was popular among fleet and private buyers. According to the AutoCarIndia, the CNG version of the new-gen Ertiga will be launched in India within six months. The report further claims that Maruti Suzuki is currently in the process of fine-tuning the new 1.5L petrol engine with CNG fuel. The smart-hybrid system could also be offered with the CNG trims.
