New Generation Suzuki S-Cross To Get Plug-in Hybrid Engine – Report

In India, the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will soon receive a more powerful 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine.

The Suzuki S-Cross (Maruti Suzuki S-Cross In India) crossover will enter into its new-generation in 2020. Talking to autoexpress.co.uk, Dale Wyatt, Managing Director, Suzuki UK, has confirmed that the new-generation Suzuki S-Cross will get the plug-in-hybrid powertrain in the British market. The Japanese carmaker aims to electrify their vehicles in the coming years. While the smaller cars will get the 12 volt (mild hybrid) systems, the bigger vehicles will use 48 volt mild hybrid systems by 2020. In the Indian market, Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will soon receive a more powerful 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine replacing the existing 1.4L K-Series motor. The newly-developed gasoline powertrain made its debut at the recently-launched Ciaz facelift. The same unit will also be used in the upcoming new-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV.

The new 1.5L petrol engine will be benefited with the SHVS mild-hybrid technology. It makes a top power of 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. Recently, Maruti Suzuki gave a minor update to the S-Cross crossover. The carline gets rear parking assists system, speed alert system (SAS) and passenger seat belt reminder as standard features. In addition, the mid-level Delta trim gets rear wash and wiper, machined alloy wheels, smart keyless entry with push start, auto folding ERVMs, auto AC and cruise control.
