Maruti Ertiga Cross is reported to launch in India by the end of 2019.
With over 50% market share, Maruti Suzuki is surely an undisputable leader in the Indian automobile industry. In fact, the Indo-Japanese carmaker is dominating the utility vehicle space with the Vitara Brezza. The company is also planning to launch a range of new UVs in the Indian market. Aiming to further improve its grip over utility market, the automaker is planning to launch a crossover version of the new-generation Ertiga. Besides, the company might also introduce the global Vitara nameplate in the Indian market. The product we are talking here is the Maruti Ertiga Cross, which is internally codenamed Maruti YHB.
Patent images of the Maruti Ertiga Cross have already been leaked on the web revealing its sportier silhouette and stance. The sportier version of the MPV will be based on the new HEARTECT platform and share most of design bits and components with the regular model. Though, it will feature a sportier body kit with lots of chrome bits and body cladding giving it a slightly different look. Maruti Ertiga Cross Launch Date
The Indo-Japanese carmaker hasn’t yet revealed any detail about its plan to launch the Ertiga based crossover in the country. When it comes to pricing, Maruti Suzuki has always been an unbeatable player. The crossover version of the Ertiga will surely be priced slightly premium than the regular MPV model. It’s estimated to be priced as low as Rs 8 lakh for the entry-level variant, and up to Rs 10.50 lakh for the top-spec model.
Maruti Ertiga Cross Specifications
As mentioned above, Maruti Suzuki might offer the Ertiga based crossover with the newly-developed 1.5L K15B VVT petrol powertrain with SHVS mild hybrid technology. The same engine made its debut on the Maruti Ciaz facelift. The new gasoline unit delivers a top power of 104bhp at 6000rpm against 138Nm of torque at 4400rpm. Maruti Ertiga Cross Mileage
Engine details of the crossover are yet to be confirmed by the carmaker. Though, it’s reported to come with a 1.5L K15B SHVS petrol engine. This powertrain delivers a claimed fuel economy of 21.56kmpl. If the Maruti Ertiga Cross will use the same gasoline unit, it will surely be more frugal than most of its competitors.
Maruti Ertiga Cross Exterior
Exterior design and styling of the new Maruti Ertiga Cross will be largely similar to the regular Ertiga MPV model. Though, the additional black cladding and chrome inserts will make it look sportier than its donor sibling. Face of the car will have more aggressive appeal with features such as a large lower air dam, honeycomb black mesh grille, LED DRLs (daytime running lights), lower black plastic bumper with fog lamps and a silver skid plate. The crossover will have lots of black treatment on the side profile. You will notice the black plastic cladding around the wheel arches, roof rails and side sills. The vehicle might get 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. Towards the back, the crossover will feature black plastic garnish above the registration plate, a large single exhaust tip, extended reflectors (similar to the Ertiga MPV) and an extended black plastic rear bumper. Features such as LED rear combination lamps and electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs could also be on offer.
Maruti Ertiga Cross Interior
The black treatment will continue inside the cabin. Premium bits such as a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with a contracting rim, brown leather upholstery with contrast stitching and dual-tone (Beige and Brown) leather upholstery will add more to its sportier looks. The list of features might include a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and navigation system, rear AC vents, automatic climate control, engine push start-stop button, Auto Up power window in the drivers side and an optional socket console box in the second row seats. Safety duties on the vehicle could be taken care of by dual airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and EBD (electronic brake-force distribution).
