The new 2020 Mahindra XUV500 will be bigger and have more cabin space to offer.
We have reported earlier that Mahindra & Mahindra will bring in new-generation models of its highly popular SUVs including XUV500, Scorpio and Thar. According to a fresh media report, the next-generation Mahindra XUV500 will make its debut by the end of 2020. Upon launch, the SUV will have some new rivals in the market such as Kia SP concept based SUV, MG’s new 5-seater SUV, Skoda Vision X concept based SUV and Volkswagen T-Cross.
The new-gen Mahindra XUV500 will also continue to take on the Hyundai Creta that will also witness a generation change in 2020. The Creta’s new 7-seater version will also be positioned against the XUV500. Interestingly, the SUV new model will use a new platform that will also underpin the Ford’s new SUV. Though, the 2020 Mahindra XUV500 will continue to feature monocoque-body frame.
In terms of design, features and interior quality, the new 2020 Mahindra XUV500 will be a lot better than the current model. It might be designed by Mahindra’s North American Technical Centre, Michigan, USA along with inputs from Pininfarina Italian design house. Under the hood, the new 2020 Mahindra XUV500 will house a new 2.0L diesel motor that will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. It will deliver power close to 180bhp, thus making it more powerful than the existing 2.2L mHawk diesel unit. The latter one is tuned to generate two power outputs – 155bhp with 360Nm and 140bhp and 320Nm.
