Maruti’s new Ertiga 7-Seater MPV – More Details Emerge

We recently informed our readers about Maruti’s new seven-seater MPV which is expected to be the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga MPV. While the model was recently spied testing in Delhi NCR, more details have emerged on the engine that is likely to power the MPV. Reports in media suggest that Maruti could use the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder oil burner that has been developed indigenously by Maruti. It is believed that the new diesel engine will debut on the new Ertiga and will later be used in other upcoming Maruti cars such as Ciaz facelift among others.

Currently there is no information on the launch date of the next-gen Ertiga, though reports opine that Maruti could bring it sometime next year. While the MPV will reportedly be launched sooner than expected, Maruti is likely to sell it through its premium dealership network, NEXA. The new-generation Ertiga is being developed under the codename YHA and will underpin Suzuki’s new HEARTECT platform. In terms of styling, the model is expected to share cues with the all-new Dzire that received prominent styling changes on the outside as well inside. Spruced up cabin will feature reworked dashboard, instrument console and centre console that will be sourced from the upcoming Maruti Swift. First launched in April 2012, Maruti Suzuki’s compact MPV, Ertiga received its first update in 2015 and while the mid-life facelift primarily comprised cosmetic changes, the new-generation model is likely to receive copious changes.

Rumours are abuzz that Maruti could also launch its mini-hatchback Alto in diesel version in future, though there is yet no official confirmation on the same.
