New Gen Maruti Ertiga Spied Testing For The First Time; Pictures Inside

Upcoming Cars in India

The next generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will be based on the Suzuki’s new generation Heartect platform that is lighter, stiffer and safer than the current platform

Images of a seven-seater MPV from Maruti Suzuki India have surfaced online and while the vehicle was spotted testing in a completely disguised form at the Greater Noida Expressway, reports suggest it could be a new variant of Ertiga. The face of the spotted model gets similar elements as Ertiga, sporting same round fog lamps, front windscreen and wing mirrors. Although, the headlamp cluster seem to be redesigned with an additional indicator lamps placed near to the grille. The overhang at the back looks a tad longer whereas the taillamps have ostensibly been taken from the existing Ertiga. With these changes, the spied vehicle looks more like a lengthier version of the Ertiga. That said, the current version measures 4,265mm in length, whereas the Thailand-spec model (launched recently in Thailand) is slightly longer at 4,325mm. Media reports indicate at a new-generation Ertiga, although there is yet no confirmation from the carmaker on the same. Also See- New Gen Maruti Ertiga 2018 – All You Need To Know

Currently available in petrol, diesel and CNG variants, the Ertiga carline derives power from the 1.4-litre petrol engine with maximum power of 91bhp at 6,000rpm along with 130Nm of torque and Fiat’s tried & tested 1.3-litre engine with 89bhp at 4,000rpm along with 200Nm torque. One must note that the diesel engine comes with Maruti’s mild hybrid SHVS technology. Transmission choices include a manual unit and an AMT gearbox. Also Read – Upcoming Maruti Cars In India

The model was first launched in India in 2012 and was instrumental in rolling out the compact MPV segment. Despite a sharp drop in demand for MPVs, Ertiga still chips in decent monthly sales.
