1. Mahindra XUV Aero
While we saw the Mahindra XUV Aero concept at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, this time the carmaker might showcase a near production version of the SUV at the coming biennial event. It won’t be overstatement that the XUV Aero is the most important upcoming Mahindra car at Auto Expo 2018. Recently, the carmaker is reportedly approved it for production. Touted as Mahindra’s most expensive project, this coupe-like SUV will source its power from a 210bhp, 2.2-litre mHawk diesel motor boosted with several advanced technologies. This powertrain will be linked to a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox. Besides this, it will offer four driving models – Off-road, Race, Sport and Street.
Interestingly, the company is also working on the electrified version of the XUV Aero Coupe-SUV. The XUV Aero SUV-coupe will be built on the XUV500, but the production of the model will depend on the cost of the high-voltage powertrain. In fact, Mahindra has teased the electric version of the XUV Aero with possible powertrain options. The company has claimed that the car will have a powertrain with 300km range. This model can do 0-100kmph in just 8 seconds. The homegrown automaker is also working on highly efficient electric powertrain with power output ranging from 120bhp to 204bhp.
What’s interesting about the all-new XUV Aero is its design and development which is done with collaborative efforts of Mahindra’s in-house team and Pininfarina. That said, the new Mahindra coupe SUV represents futuristic design philosophy of the company. The car wears aggressive headlamps, LED DRLs, sloping roofline, flared wheel arches and large alloys and LED tail lamps.
