2. Mahindra KUV100 Electric
Mahindra is currently dominating the electric car space in India and in order to further consolidate its position, Mahindra is aiming to launch two new electric cars in 2018 and 2019. The first electric model will be based on the KUV100 micro SUV, which is scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2018. Mahindra had launched the KUV100 facelift during festive season 2017. Codenamed S107, the Mahindra KUV100 electric could become the world’s most affordable electric SUV. This product will be rolled out in several international markets including India.
The homegrown automaker is developing new technology for its next-generation EVs. The company is working on electric powertrains with output ranging from 41bhp to 204bhp. It is expected that the KUV100 electric could feature Mahindra’s new electric powertrain. This electric model is likely to be unveiled alongside other upcoming Mahindra cars at Auto Expo 2018
If media reports are to be believed, the Mahindra’s small electric car will come with a range of 350km under the EPA’s (Environmental Protection Agency) testing cycle. It is claimed that the micro SUV will have a top speed of 186kmph and it can accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in just 9 seconds.
This model is expected to look largely identical to the KUV100 NXT. Though, Mahindra could make some changes to the chassis to accommodate electric powertrain.
