The long wait for the new Hyundai Santro 2018 is finally over, as the South Korean carmaker has rolled out the hatchback in the Indian market. The launch event took place in the presence of Hyundai’s corporate brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) in Delhi.

Available in a total of 9 variants across 5 trims, the new Santro’s price ranges between Rs 3.89 lakh – Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The new Hyundai Santro 2018 is available with a petrol engine, namely, 1.1-litre, four-cylinder. The gasoline unit makes a top power of 68bhp and 99Nm of peak torque. The hatchback can be brought either with a 5-speed transmission or an AMT gearbox. Buyers also have a CNG option where the motor delivers a peak power worth 59bhp against 84Nm of torque. While the petrol version of the small car is claimed to deliver 20.3kmpl mileage, the CNG version promises 30.5km/g. The new Hyundai Santro is capable to attain a top speed of 150kmph.

Compared to its rival, the new Hyundai Santro 2018 has more feature-loaded and premium interior. The hatchback offers a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (first-in-segment). Besides this, the new Santro is also the first car its category to offer rear AC vents. The adjustable headrests and three-spoke steering wheel with mounted audio controls add more to its comfort levels. Interestingly, the 2018 Hyundai Santro offers driver side airbag and ABS with EBD as standard safety features.

The new Hyundai Santro 2018 is 45mm longer than the old model. While the hatchback retains the signature tall boy design, it receives some interesting elements such as new grille with chrome surround, larger headlamps, 14-inch steel wheels and bulky taillamps. Though, it misses out on the LED DRLs and alloy wheels.
