Ford Freestyle Petrol Variants In High Demand

Around 60 to 70 per cent bookings for the Ford Freestyle are specifically for the petrol variants.

Launched in April 2018, the Ford Freestyle cross-hatch has been doing well for the American carmaker in India. It’s the second top-selling Ford car in the country. The crossover registered sales of 3,027 units and 2,554 units in May and June respectively. Within these figures, Ford found an interesting trend that around 60 to 70 per cent bookings for the Freestyle are specifically for the petrol variants.

Buyers’ purchasing trend goes completely against the company’s expectations of higher demand of diesel models. Usually, the American carmaker’s majority sales (70 per cent) comes from the diesel model of the vehicles. Though, the shift has been observed across all segments. The entry-level petrol model of the Ford Freestyle comes with a price tag of Rs 5.09 lakh, and the fully-loaded variant costs Rs 6.94 lakh. Prices of the diesel models range between Rs 6.09 lakh to Rs 7.89 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Ford’s new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine from Dragon family made its debut on the Freestyle. The new gasoline unit makes 94bhp at 6500rpm and 120Nm of torque at 4250rpm. The diesel models use a 1.5-litre TDCi engine putting out 100bhp at 3750rpm and 215Nm between 1750rpm – 3000rpm. A 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across the carline. Both the engines are high on fuel efficiency. The Freestyle comes with lots of comfort and safety goodies. It gets a new high definition touchscreen, Ford’s Sync3 infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety fitments such as dual airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and traction control are also on offer.
