Toyota aims to push strong hybrid vehicles, before entering into electric car segment in the country. The Japanese automaker has also planned multiple new models including facelifts, new-generation updates and all-new products. Here’s a brief on the top 9 upcoming new Toyota SUVs and MPVs.

Updated Toyota Urban Cruiser

Toyota Urban Cruiser Variant Features

Reports suggest that the new Toyota Urban Cruiser will arrive after the second-generation Brezza that’s due for May 2022. Most of its updates will be similar to the new Brezza. The SUV is likely to come with a new, bigger infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, a semi-digital instrument cluster, electric sunroof, wireless charging system, a SIM-based connected car suite, paddle shifters and many more goodies. 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser Engine

The new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 is reported to hit showrooms in the month of August. The brand’s flagship SUV will be offered with the 3.3L twin-turbo diesel and 3.5L twin-turbo petrol engine options. While the former makes power worth 305bhp and 700Nm of torque, the latter is good for 415bhp and 650Nm. Both motors will come with a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Toyota will foray into the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment in coming months. Codenamed Toyota D22, the model will be co-developed with Suzuki and is likely to debut by mid 2022. Its trail production is reported to begin at the company’s Karnataka based facility. The new Toyota mid-size SUV will underpin the TNGA-B platform and it’s reported to be offered with two petrol engines (one with mild hybrid tech and one with strong hybrid system). Toyota Kirloskar Motor has already trademarked the name ‘Toyota Rumion’ that will be used for the re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. It’s likely to launch in coming months. Similar to the newly-launched Ertiga, the Rumion will come with the 1.5L K15C Dualjet petrol engine making power worth 103bhp and 136.8Nm. The motor has two injectors per cylinder and start stop technology that improve its overall performance and fuel efficiency. Toyota Belta, the re-badged Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, is reported to see a release in coming months. In terms of design, feature and engine mechanism, the model will be exactly similar to the Ciaz. Reports suggest that the Toyota RAV4 might hit Indian roads sometime in 2023. Here, it will come as a fully import unit and it’s estimated to cost around Rs 55 lakh – Rs 60 lakh. The SUV has been built on the TNGA-K platform and comes with a 2.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated Atkinson cycle petrol engine with a 215bhp electric motor. It’s paired to an 8-speed eCVT gearbox.
