Toyota Belta (Honda City Rival) Unveiled – Key Features Explained

The Toyota Belta sedan, the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, was recently revealed for the Middle Eastern markets. The same model will also be launched in India in coming months. Here, it will be introduced as a replacement to the Toyota Yaris, which was discontinued in September 2021. The Belta sedan will face challenge from cars like Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the upcoming Skoda Slavia.

Save for Toyota’s badge, the entire design, interior and features of the Toyota Belta are exactly similar to the Ciaz. In fact, the sedan features the same 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine with mild hybrid system under the hood. The motor pushes out a peak power of 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.

The Japanese automaker recently unveiled the Toyota Rumion MPV (rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga) for the South African market. The company also trademarked the same nameplate in India. Toyota’s Ertiga based 7-seater MPV is expected to hit showrooms in coming months. It features slightly revised front grille with Toyota’s badge, while the entire design remains unchanged. Powering the Toyota Rumion is the same 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with SHVS mild hybrid tech. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
