Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently introduced the updated version of the second-generation Fortuner SUV in India. A few days ago, we have reported that the Japanese carmaker is working on the third-generation Toyota Fortuner that will hit Indian roads sometime 2022. With the generation change, the SUV will take a big leap in terms of design, features and engine mechanism. Here’re 5 things we know so far about the new 2022 Toyota Fortuner.
1. ADAS
For the Indian market, the carmaker will equip the all-new Fortuner with the ADAS – Advanced Driver Assistance System. One must note that its newly-launched arch rival – MG Gloster – already comes with the level 1 autonomous technology. The system includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic parking assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking and blind spot detection.
2. Electric Power Steering

3. Vehicle Stability Control
The 2022 Toyota Fortuner will have vehicle stability control (VSC) system that will prevent side skids and help stabilizing the vehicle while turning on sharp corners or curvy roads.
4. Diesel Hybrid
With the generation change, Toyota’s 7-seater SUV is likely to receive a diesel hybrid powertrain. In its global engine linup, the Japanese carmaker has two hybrid systems – strong and mild. As of now, there is no official word on engine details of the India-spec new Fortuner. The recently launched facelift version is available with the 2.8L diesel (204bhp) and 2.7L petrol (166bhp) engine options.
5. Cosmetic, Feature Upgrades
The new 2022 Toyota Fortuner will continue to have the body-on-frame construction, but witness significant changes in terms of design. Interior might also be revised heavily with new connected car features and several new goodies.
