The new 2023 Mercedes-AMG C43, the first performance-oriented derivative of the new-gen C-Class sedan, has been revealed via official images. Globally, the model will be offered in two body styles – sedan (standard) and estate. Compared to the regular C-Class, the AMG C43 carries more aggressive design elements including an AMG Panamericana grille, sportier bumper, new side skirts and slightly revised rear bumper with a subtle boot lip spoiler. The quad exhaust further enhances its sportier looks.
Interior gets some AMG specific features such as an AMG flat-bottomed steering, AMG graphics for the touchscreen and digital dials and AMG sports seats up front along with the carbon fibre trim.
Major highlight of the new 2023 Mercedes-AMG C43 is the 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is benefited with the 48V mild hybrid system. It returns a claimed power of 402bhp and 500Nm of torque. While its power output is higher than its predecessor, the torque figures reduced by 20Nm. The performance sedan can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 4.6 seconds and its estate version is 0.1 second slower than standard body style.
The new AMG C43 is capable to attain a top speed of 250kmph with the standard 18-inch wheels. Interestingly, it offers a maximum speed of 265kmph with the optional AMG’s Driver’s package that includes 19/20-inch wheels. The performance sedan has been equipped with the rear-wheel steering (standard) that has a maximum steering angle of up to 2.5 degrees.
Transmission duties are done by a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The unit transmits power to all four wheels via a rear-biased AMG-specific 4Matic AWD system. The AMG C43 offers multiple drive modes, namely, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. It gets steel springs with adaptive damps and a new exhaust. One can opt for a synthesizer to boost its exhaust note via its speakers. It comes as a part of the performance sound pack.
