9 New Car Launches From India’s Top Carmakers Before Diwali 2022

2022 is surely an existing year for the auto enthusiasts as several new cars across different segments are ready to hit roads. We have already witnessed some big product launches including updated Ertiga, XL6, Creta Knight Edition, Altroz DCT and more. In the next 6 months (i.e. before Diwali 2022), there will be more new models coming in from India’s top 7 car manufacturers. Here’re key details of the upcoming new cars, which are slated to launch before Diwali 2022.

New-Gen Maruti Brezza

2022 Maruti Brezza Design Changes

The Indo-Japanese automaker is ready to roll-out the second-generation Maruti Vitara Brezza in the month of May. This time around, the model will drop the prefix ‘Vitara’ and will be called Maruti Brezza. Major changes will be made to its exterior, interior and engine mechanism. The SUV is likely to come with the factory-fitted sunroof, a 360 degree camera, connected car tech, Head-Up Display (HUD), wireless phone charging and larger, updated 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Under the hood, the new 2022 Maruti Brezza will feature a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with the 5-speed manual and new 6-speed automatic gearbox options. It’s reported to drop the mild hybrid system.

Toyota and Maruti Suzuki are jointly working on multiple products including a mid-size SUV that’s reported to arrive before Diwali 2022. A fresh media report claims that the model has entered into its trail production and it’s likely to unveil in June or July. Toyota’s Bidadi facility will serve as a production hub for both Maruti and Toyota mid-size SUV. The model will be designed on the modified and localized version of Toyota’s TNGA-B platform. Rumour has it that the new Maruti-Toyota SUV will be available with two petrol hybrid powertrain – one with mild hybrid and second with stronger hybrid tech.

New Hyundai Venue

2022 Hyundai Venue Details

Hyundai India is gearing up to launch the updated Venue subcompact SUV in May 2022. Most of the changes will be made to its design and interior, while the engine setup will remain unchanged. The new 2022 Hyundai Venue will carry the new-gen Tucson inspired parametric grille, rectangular shaped headlamps positioned lower on the bumper, new alloy wheels, revised rear bumper with a new faux skid plate and new tailgate with L-shaped taillamps. While the interior layout will stay intact, the SUV is likely to come with the updated infotainment system and a new BlueLink connected car tech. With the mid-life update, the automaker will introduce the Hyundai Venue N-Line variant in the country.

New Hyundai Creta

After the updated Venue, the new 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift will be the next big launch from the South Korean automaker in India. The SUV’s new model will feature Hyundai’s new Sensuous Sportiness design language along with the new parametric grille, differently designed DRLs, revised bumper with slimer and wider air-inlet, newly-designed LED taillamps and updated tailgate design. Inside, there will be a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, updated BlueLink connected car and ADAS. No changes will be made under the skin. The new Creta will continue to come with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5L turbo diesel and 1.4L turbo petrol engine options.

New Tata Nexon EV

The long-range Tata Nexon EV is certainly one of the much-awaited car launches of this year. The electric subcompact SUV will come with a bigger 40kWh battery pack and a 6.6kW AC charger. It will offer power worth 136PS (7PS more powerful than the existing model) and a range of over 400km on a single charge. The existing 30.3kWh battery will also on offer. The new Nexon EV will receive a few cosmetic upgrades including newly-designed, dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels. On the feature front, the model will get electronic stability program, ventilated seats, cruise control and air purifier.

New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to launch the second-generation Scorpio SUV in coming months (i.e. before 2022 Diwali season). If reports are to be believed, the new model might debut in June and its market launch will happen in September or October. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will come with improved design, more feature-packed interior and powerful engines. Furthermore, the SUV will grow in size. Set for a generation change, the Scorpio will get forward facing third-row seats. For power, the SUV will have 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. Features such as 4X4 drivetrain system, drive modes and terrain modes will be reserved for the higher variants.

Kia EV6

Kia EV6 Bookings India

Official bookings for the upcoming Kia EV6 electric crossover will begin on 26th May 2022. The model will witness a market launch in the month of August. The automaker will bring in the limited units of EV6 via CBU route and retail across five metro cities via a single dealer. Prices of the electric crossover are likely to be between Rs 55 lakh – Rs 60 lakh. It will be offered in a single GT-Line variant with a 77.4kWh battery pack and a dual e-AWD system. Some of its key features might include a 12.0-inch infotainment system, a 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster, OTA updates, wireless smartphone charging, 14-speaker Meridian audio system and more.

Honda City e:HEV

Honda Cars India will introduce the City Hybrid sedan in the month of May. Production of the model is already underway at the company’s Tapukara facility in Rajasthan. Powertrain system of the Honda City e:HEV includes an Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder engine with two electric motors (one working as an ISG and one as a traction motor). The gasoline unit delivers 98bhp and 109bhp with electric assistance and 253Nm of torque (combined). Honda claims that the City Hybrid will return mileage of 26.5kmpl. In terms of features, it will offer Honda Sensing technology, Honda Connect features with smartwatch functionality and Alexa and OK Google integrations.
