Honda City e:HEV Production Begins; Launch Next Month

Production of the upcoming Honda City e:HEV has been commenced at the company’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan. The sedan is India’s first strong hybrid electric car in the mainstream segment. Buyers can pre-book the vehicle by paying an initial sum of Rs 21,000 at all authorized Honda dealerships across the country. It can also be booked online via ‘Honda from Home’ platform on the company’s official website with an amount of Rs 5,000. The company is offering a 3-year unlimited kilometres warranty as standard and optional extended warranty up to 5 years and anytime warranty up to 10 years from the date of car purchase.

The automaker has equipped the Honda City Hybrid with an Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder engine paired to two electric motors. While the first electric motor works as an ISG (integrated starter generator), the other works as a traction motor. There is a battery pack fitted in the boot space. The City e:HEV delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 26.5kmpl. The gasoline motor makes a top power of 98bhp and with electric assistance it delivers 109bhp. Its combined torque out stands at 253Nm.

Honda’s hybrid sedan comes with Honda Sensing technology that offers safety features including adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking system, road departure mitigation, auto high beam and lane keeping assist system. Inside, the Honda City e:HEV has dual-tone Ivory & Black interior theme. Some of its key features include a 17.7cm HD full colour TFT meter, a 20.3cm advanced touchscreen display audio with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, one-touch electric sunroof, electric parking brake with auto brake hold, LED interior room lamps and ambient lighting.

The sedan offers several safety technologies such as 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system with deflation warning, multi-angle rear view camera, Honda lane-watch, hill start assist, Isofix with lower anchorage and top tether, vehicle stability assist with agile handling assist and more.
