Kia EV6 India Launch In August – Key Details Explained

Kia is all set to expand its Indian product portfolio with a new electric crossover in the coming months. The automaker has confirmed that it will begin Kia EV6 pre-bookings on 26th May and its market launch is likely to happen in August 2022. Only 100 units of the EV will be allotted for the first year. It will be retailed via a single dealer across five metro cities. Since the model will be brought here via CBU route, it’s estimated to cost between Rs 55 lakh – Rs 60 lakh.

Globally, the Kia EV6 is offered with multiple configurations and battery sizes. In India, the automaker will bring in its top-spec GT-Line variant featuring a 77.4kWh battery pack and a dual e-AWD system. Its power and torque outputs stand at 320bhp and 605Nm respectively. The electric powertrain promises a range of 425km on a single charge. It can accelerate 0 to 60mph in under 3.5 seconds. The company might introduce its smaller battery pack variant with single-motor, RWD setup sometime next year.

The Kia electric crossover comes with a 12.0inch touchscreen infotainment system that’s an extension of 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster. The system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. It has OTA (over-the-air) updates and respond to myriad voice commands. Features such as a WiFi hotspot, wireless smartphone charging, an optional 14 speakers Meridian audio system, voice activated dual zone front AC unit and vegan leather seat trim are also on offer. On the safety front, the EV6 offers multiple safety and driver-assistance features including automated emergency braking and automatic high beams. Its global-spec model gets blind spot monitoring system, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assist as standard safety fitments. It also gets remote parking assist, vehicle stability management (VSM)), electronic stability control (ESC), multiple airbags, collision mitigation (rear), aerial view camera system and many more goodies.
