India’s leading SUV maker, Mahindra is all set to launch the new generation Scorpio SUV in the country in mid-2022. Likely to be unveiled in June 2022, the all-new Mahindra Scorpio will come with all-new design, feature-loaded interior and new engine-gearbox combinations.
The all-new Mahindra Scorpio has been spotted several times. The SUV has been snapped at a parking lot, which reveals closer details. It is clearly evident that the new Scorpio will grow in size and looks bigger than the XUV700. The SUV retains the boxy design; however, it gets some aggressive styling elements.
The SUV gets massive front fascia with a signature Mahindra six-slat grille, big headlamps with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), and massive bumper with wider air-dam, silver-finished skid plate and new fog lamp enclosing. The bigger size is clearly evident from the side profile, as it gets bigger rear overhangs and rear door.
The rear profile of the all-new Mahindra Scorpio is also completely re-designed and looks significantly bigger. It gets a large green house area, roof-mounted spoiler with brake lights, new LED tail-lights and a big tailgate for easy use of boot.
The new gen Mahindra Scorpio will also receive all-new interior, which is more premium and feature-loaded. It gets a clean dashboard with a centrally stacked big touchscreen infotainment system, new round buttons for AC controls and others. The vehicle will also get wireless phone charger, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, new air-con vents and leather seats & leather-wrapped armrest.
The central tunnel has a round switch for different driving modes such as rock, snow and gravel. The SUV gets a digital instrument console and a multi-functional steering wheel similar to the XUV700. The SUV will be offered in 6 and 7-seat layout with former having captain seats in the second-row. The SUV will also get forward facing third-row of seats instead of side facing jump seats in the outgoing model.
The all-new Mahindra Scorpio 2022 is expected to be offered with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel. The diesel engine is likely to be offered with two states of tunes – 130bhp/300Nm & close to 155bhp/350Nm. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The higher variants will also receive a 4×4 drivetrain along with terrain modes & drive modes.
