7 All-New SUVs Unveiled For India – Launch Timeline, Key Facts

We have witnessed multiple new launches, global product unveilings and future EV concepts at the Auto Expo 2023. The mega automotive event also previewed some of the upcoming all-new SUVs across segments. Here’re some key details and launch timeline of the top 7 upcoming new SUVs that debuted at the 16th Edition of the Indian auto expo.

Maruti eVX

Maruti electric SUV eVX concept

Maruti Suzuki eVX, the first born electric SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker, was showcased in its concept avatar. The company has confirmed that its production-ready version will go on sale in 2025. Codenamed (YV8), the eVX will be designed on a new dedicated platform that will be co-developed with Toyota. The SUV’s concept measures 4300mm in length, 1800mm in width and 1600mm in height with a wheelbase of 2700mm. Maruti Suzuki has revealed that the new eVX concept based electric SUV will feature a 60kWh battery and deliver a range of around 550km. More details here…

Maruti Jimny

Maruti Jimny Launch

The Maruti Jimny 5-door is surely one of the major attractions at the Auto Expo 2023. The company has opened its bookings, while its prices are likely to be announced by May. The off-road SUV has been built on the ladder frame chassis and could be powered by a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with SHVS hybrid tech. The motor makes a top power of 102bhp and 130Nm of torque with both 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearboxes. Maruti Fronx

Maruti Fronx Bookings

Buyers can pre-book the upcoming all-new Maruti Suzuki Fronx SUV coupe across all Nexa dealerships. The model might hit roads by April 2023. It will be offered in Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta and Alpha platform. There will be two engine options – a new 1.0L Boosterjet with SHVS (100PS/148Nm) and a 1.2L Dualjet petrol (90PS/113Nm). The model lineup will come with three gearbox options – a 5-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and AMT. The Maruti Fronx can be had with mono and dual-tone colour options. Tata Harrier EV

Tata Harrier’s electric iteration made its first public debut at the Auto Expo 2023. The concept has been designed on the heavily re-engineered version of the Omega platform supporting electrification. It features a closed-off grille, LED headlamps with split setup and blackened housing, reprofiled bumper and angular creases at the front end. You can notice the EV badges on the fenders, flush door handles and larger wheels. The carmaker hasn’t yet revealed its specifications. The production version of the Tata Harrier EV will hit roads in 2024. More details here…

Tata Curvv

Tata Curvv SUV

The final version of the Tata Curvv will be answer to the Hyundai Creta. It’s one of the much-awaited new Tata SUVs in the country. The concept follows Tata’s new ‘Digital’ design language and features coupe-like roofline, body cladding, squared-off wheel arches, triangular headlamps with full length LED light bar, angular bumper and notchback-styled boot. The carmaker has confirmed that the Curvv will be offered with both ICE and electric powertrain options. Its electric version will come with AWD system and deliver a range of around 400-500km. Tata Sierra

Tata Sierra SUV Price

At this year’s Auto Expo, the Tata Sierra SUV has been showcased in its near-to-production version. It will have electric powertrain and witness a market launch sometime in 2025. The model has five door body construction with a new flaux grille, slim headlamps connected through a chrome strip, sporty bumper, fog lamp assembly with black surrounding, a more upright and flatter bonnet. The concept is 4150mm long, 1820mm wide and 1675mm tall and it sits on a wheelbase of 2450mm. Similar to the Curvv, it could be offered with both electric and petrol powertrains. More details here…

Toyota Land Cruiser LC300

New Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 India

The new Toyota Land Cruiser LC300 has made its first public appearance at the Auto Expo 2023. The carmaker has announced its prices that stands at Rs 2.17 crore (ex-showroom). The SUV derives its power from a 3.3L turbocharged V6 diesel engine delivering power worth 305bhp. Transmission duties are done by a 10-speed automatic gearbox. It accelerates 0 to 100kmph in 6.7 seconds. The SUV comes with the more advanced Multi-Terrain Select system and a Multi-Terrain Monitor system. It gets 4X4 drivetrain system as standard.
