2020 Mahindra Thar Instrument Cluster, MID In New Images
Mahindra & Mahindra has been extensively testing the new-generation Thar in the country. We have seen multiple camouflaged exterior and interior pictures revealing its new details. The latest spy video shows the twin-pod instrument cluster with a colour MID (multi information display) of the 2020 Mahindra Thar.
The MID unit appears slightly larger than the existing unit. It has a digital semi-circular fuel and temperature gauge. The SUV will also get a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel with mounted controls. The newly-designed dashboard and centre console, new circular AC vents with chrome surrounds and beige leather seats will add more to its new interior.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar might also come with the automatic climate control, a touchscreen infotainment system, front power window controls, cruise control, lumbar adjustment and cup holders between the seats. The transfer case and gearbox have been moved to the left side of the gearlever. Read – Mahindra Funster EV Concept To Unveil At Auto Expo 2020
Exterior design will also be revised comprehensively. The 2020 Mahindra Thar will get a new 7-slat grille, newly-designed bumper and fog lamps at the front end. Other highlights will include 5-spoke alloy wheels, a hard top roof, front fender mounted turn indicators and a rear door mounted spare tyre.
With respect to engine, the 2020 Mahindra Thar will get a 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine meeting the BS6 emission norms. It will be more powerful than the existing 2.5L motor. The new oil burner with a 6-speed manual gearbox will deliver power close to 140bhp and torque more than 350Nm. Read – Mahindra XUV500 Electric SUV To Debut At Auto Expo 2020
If rumors are to be believed, the new-generation Thar might get a petrol engine. Powering the petrol model could be a 140bhp, 2.2L engine sourced from the Mahindra XUV500. It’s likely to come with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
The new-generation Mahindra Thar will be unveiled in coming months and its launch will happen in March, 2020. Contrary to all rumours, the SUV won’t make its debut at the Auto Expo 2020.
