1. Renault Kwid Racer

3. New Gen Hyundai Santro

4. Maruti Swift

New-generation Maruti Swift is certainly one of the much-awaited upcoming cars in India. All set to make its India debut at the 2018 Auto Expo, the all-new Swift will be carrying a more premium and sportier design. Face of the car will be completely revised with new projector headlamps, LED DRLs, re-designed bumper, sculpted bonnet and new fog lamps. The new diamond cut alloys, ORVMs with blinkers and floating roofline will accentuate its side profile. At the rear, one can notice the large bumper, new wrap-around taillamps and shorter windscreen. Proportionally, too, the hatchback will be shorter, higher and more spacious than the current generation.

Engine setup for the new Swift will remain unchanged. The new model will continue to use the same 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine making 83bhp with 115Nm and 74bhp with 190Nm. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and an optional CVT unit. In terms of mileage, the new Swift will be more frugal than the existing model – all thanks to its new platform. 5. New Maruti Ertiga

Next in our list of upcoming cars in India is the new-generation Maruti Ertiga. Similar to the new-gen Dzire and Swift, the 2018 Ertiga will use the new HEARTECT platform which will make it lighter, safer and more efficient than the current model. Besides sharing the platform, the MPV will borrow its design bits and features from the donor compact sedan. The car will see new hexagonal mesh grille, new projector headlamps with LED DRLs and revised bumper on the fascia. Save for the new alloys, door handles and ORVMs, the side profile will remain changed. The rear design will include new spoiler, wraparound tail lamps, re-designed bumper and shorter windscreen.

Cabin will be more spacious and laden with several new features such as Suzuki’s new touchscreen infotainment system with 7-inch display, new three-spoke steering wheels with mounted controls, re-designed dashboard and more. Powering the MPV’s new-gen model will be a new pair of petrol and diesel engines – a 94bhp, 1.4-litre petrol and a 89bhp, 1.3-litre MJD + SHVS. 6. Maruti Ciaz 2018

The Maruti Ciaz is one of the top-selling products from the Indo-Japanese carmaker in India. The mid-size saloon had achieved 1.50 lakh sales milestone in March 2017. With an aim to further improve its sales, the company is gearing up to bring in its first facelift sometime next year. Therefore, the new Ciaz facelift is one of the most important upcoming cars in India from Maruti Suzuki. Interestingly, the new Maruti Ciaz facelift might ditch the existing engine lineup, and come with a new larger capacity 1.5-litre petrol and diesel powertrains. The power and torque figures are likely to be higher than the current motors. Though, the transmissions will remain unchanged – i.e. 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.

Exterior updates might include new front grille, smoked headlamps with chrome, revised front bumper and new alloys. 7. Maruti Ertiga Crossover

India’s largest carmaker is also working on a crossover version of the Ertiga MPV, which will be launched in the country in early 2019. Codenamed YHB, this crossover-ish MPV will challenge the upcoming Renault RBC 7-seater crossover-MPV. This model will be based on Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that also underpins the Swift twins and the new Ertiga.

Design wise, the new Maruti models will look bigger and more rugged than the regular Ertiga MPV. It is expected to be powered by Maruti’s new 1.5-litre diesel engine that will also power the upcoming Ertiga MPV. Petrol version will get the 1.4-litre petrol engine. 8. Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol

Maruti Vitara Brezza is one of the major volume generators for the Indo-Japanese automarker in the country. Initially, the compact SUV was made available only with the diesel engine option. Now considering the high demand of the petrol model, the company is planning to introduce a petrol powertrain on the compact SUV. While the Vitara Brezza diesel comes with a 89bhp, 1.3-litre Multijet unit, the petrol iteration will derive its power from a 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine. It’s the same engine that does duty in the Baleno RS. This motor is capable of generating a top power of 100.5bhp with 150Nm of torque.

Reports in media also suggest that the Maruti Vitara Brezza might borrow the 89bhp, 1.2-litre K-Series engine from the standard Baleno. 9. Maruti Suzuki Jimny

Maruti Suzuki Jimny could one of the upcoming cars in India that might appear at the 2018 Auto Expo. As per the recent reports, India will serve as production hub for the new-generation Jimny. It will be exported to select South East Asian, European and North American markerts. In India, the Maruti Suzuki Jimny could be introduced as replacement to the iconic Gypsy. Built on Suzuki’s new generation platform, this new SUV will share its engine with Baleno RS – i.e. 1.0-litre Boosterjet petrol. This motor, with a 5-speed manual gearbox, delivers a peak power of 110bhp and 175Nm of torque.

The Jimny carline will also include a more powerful petrol version boosted with a 1.4-litre Boosterjet engine and a new automatic gearbox. Featuring rugged and aggressive styling, the Jimny will appeal off-roading enthusiasts. Face of the SUV looks aggressive with larger bumper, air dam and headlamps. 10. Hyundai Elite i20 facelift

The next one in our list of upcoming cars in India is the Hyundai Elite i20 facelift that might debut at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. For 2018 model year, the hatchback will receive multiple design updates and a bunch of new features. Most of the design changes will be made on the face of the car. The facelifed model will see a single large ‘Cascade’ type grille, Elantra-inspired headlamps, revised bumper and fog lamps. On the contrary, the side design will remain largely identical to the current model. Though, it will get a new pair of alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the car will sport new LED lamps, re-designed bumper and updated graphics.

Interior, too, will be revised with a new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link connecitivty, headlamp escort function, reverse parking camera, etc. The hatchback will continue to come with the same 81.83bhp, 1.2-litre Kappa VTVT petrol and 88.73bhp, 1.4-litre CRDi diesel engine options. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. While the current model also comes with a 4-speed automatic gearbox, the facelifted model might receive a new 6-speed AT unit.
